Ever since Southwest announced a slew of negative policy changes, several airlines have been quick to court Rapid Rewards members looking for alternatives. And Frontier Airlines is the latest to throw its hat in the ring. Through April 30, 2025, Southwest members with any level of status (or even no status at all) can get Frontier Elite Gold status through the end of the year for just a $40 application fee.

Here's how it works.

Southwest Members: Buy Frontier Elite Gold Status for $40

Of all the airlines offering status matches or challenges to disgruntled Southwest flyers, Frontier’s is the most straightforward. If you joined the Rapid Rewards program before April 16, 2025, you can buy Frontier Elite Gold status for $40 and enjoy a range of money-saving benefits through December 31, 2025.

Final Thoughts

Even if you’re not a disgruntled Southwest flyer, Frontier’s offer to buy Elite Gold status for $40 can still be a solid deal. As an Elite Gold member, you can bring a carry-on bag onboard for free, and the savings from just one round-trip booking alone could easily recoup the cost of the match.

The Frontier experience isn’t for everyone, but if this offer piques your interest, it’s worth submitting a status match application before it takes flight on April 30, 2025.
