Spirit Airlines might not be the most popular airline to fly with. But, to promote its new mileage program, Spirit is offering a free concert on February 4. And you'll score some Free Spirit points just for attending a free concert.
Get Free Spirit Points for a Free Concert with Brett Young
On February 4, 2021 at 8pm Eastern, Spirit will be hosting a free online concert with country pop singer-songwriter Brett Young. To celebrate the new Free Spirit program, Spirit Airlines are offering 100 Free Spirit points to any member that attends the concert and submits their email and account number between 8:30pm on February 4 and 8pm on February 5. Points will be automatically applied to your account within 7 days of the concert.
Spirit Airlines are also donating 100,000 points to myLIFEspeaks, a charity that Brett supports. MyLIFEspeaks is focused on family empowerment, education, public health, and special needs advocacy in Haiti.

The New Free Spirit Program
Spirit's new Free Spirit program launched on January 21, 2021. There are three tiers of members (Member, Silver, Gold). Rewards are loosely revenue-based and start at 2,500 Free Spirit Points each way. Members earn 6X Free Spirit Points on airfare and 12X points on add-on fees such as seat selection, extra baggage, etc.
To keep your points from expiring, you must have account activity at least once every 12 months. That's an improvement from the prior policy of once every three months. Additionally, two new credit cards have been announced with the new program.
The program has a downside if you have a last-minute flight. There is a $50 redemption fee for flights booked within 28 days of departure. There is no fee for booking a flight with points further than 28 days before departure. That fee could effectively make the reward points worthless, depending on the flight you book. However, members who have Silver or Gold elite status or a qualifying credit card have the redemption fee waived.
Our Take
Spirit Airlines is definitely trying to make moves in the airline industry with its new Free Spirit program. And offering 100 Free Spirit points just for watching a free concert of a popular singer certainly isn't a bad way to do so. A low-cost carrier having a mileage/points program is huge, so I guess it’s cool that Spirit is making one now. My only concern is how much advantage will travelers be able to use in real-world application, especially since it already has it’s $9 fare club membership. Would be cool to see a future post between the pros/cons of those monthly/yearly membership of the $9 fare club vs trying to use their points for new bookings. Also curious if other low-cost carriers like Frontier and Allegiant will follow suit in implementing a mileage/points program.
Free concert is a great way to kick-off the new mileage program. I’ve been hesitant to fly with them, but maybe I should give them a chance.
I don’t fly Spirit but that is definitely something I wish other Airlines would do, especially these days. It’s brilliant.

This is a great idea, other airlines should do similar.
I dont like to fly airlines that charges for everything including making seat reservation and bringing on luggage. It just feels like they are nitpicking on everything. Cant even bring my own water.
Well I’ve written down the info but I’ll have to see if I’d fly Spirit. I haven’t so far but I know my husband has mentioned them because a coworker flies them and regularly gets low fares. I so hoping that you’d say how to earn points with them but nope. I think I will dig around their website before signing up with them though it might not hurt since my hubby wants to try them out.

Did I read that Spirit points expire after around 3 months of inactivity? Well, right or wrong, I wouldn’t even do this for 100 Chase points. It’s not worth the electricity needed to watch it.
The three-month expiration policy of the old program made it hard to redeem if you didn’t have the Spirit credit card. Even if you did fly a few times a year, your points would often expire.
I found the idea nice. it is little, but better than nothing.
Free points is always nice- never can turn down free!
Given the uncertainty of times we live in, especially in regards to travel, knowing firm plans more than 28 days out seems like an unreasonable expectation. Spirit continues to nickel and dime customers.
What a easy way to earn points and extend your points experation date.
An extra (up to) 90 days? I guess every day matters when it’s that small. lol
