With travel at a fraction of what it once was, hotels are looking for alternative ways to fill rooms. One way many hotels are trying to do so is to offer rooms to workers as office space. As part of this shift, Hilton rebranded its day-use rooms as WorkSpaces. And, as an added incentive to try them out, Hilton is now offering 10,000 bonus points for completing your first booking.

Our Take

With the style of traveling changing around the world, these rooms will probably get some more use. I've definitely used day rooms at hotels in my travels.

This is a great opportunity to get some bonus points by trying Hilton's new WorkSpace. This promotion is marketed to those looking for a place to work during the day. However, you can also use this promotion during a long layover, as a spot of comfort during a more rugged journey, or just as a getaway from the house.

  • got my 10k great promo. it was quite nice to leave the house for once too

  • It’s good news but I has to be expanded to other countries to be more attractive. Why not incorporate South America in this offer?

  • Definitely looks like a nice idea/concept during these times. Curious if the cancellation policy and Hilton Honors member rates for these WorkSpaces are similar to their normal room rates. Because it’s a work oriented stay, are check-in/check-out hours more flexible than a normal room reservation?

  • Wow, I didn’t even know that Workspace was an option! This would have helped me out so much in all those times i’m scrambling to find some quiet spaces for meetings when I’m outside the office!

  • I hope Hilton makes the reservation process more seamless online. I currently haven’t figured out how to see the rates and book. Only saw instructions to call the hotel.

  • First Hyatt, now Hilton. Safer from covid-19 than working in a shared office, and quieter than working from a home that might be noisy, but rather pricey to not offer elite credits.

  • Stephen William Burman says:

Always good to find a new way to get points!

  • This sounds like a great way to try a hotel in your own city which otherwise isn’t something you have much reason to do.

  • angelo fonseca says:

The workspace is a great idea in this context of Covid-19. In addition, they are offering a generous bonus to advertise the service.

  • Lesley Wheeler says:

This will not work for most in the UK as we are legally banned from going on holiday and a “work space” does not qualify if you can work from home. Oh, for a nice night in a hotel!

  • I find Hilton is a nightmare to deal with when points don’t post from a promotion. I’m still trying to get bonus points from the fall lyft promo. Every time I contact Hilton by phone, they say to email them. When I email them, Hilton says to wait up to two weeks for a response. After two weeks without a response, the process repeats itself.

  • This seems like an excellent promotion, particularly if you can get a day room at a reasonable cost. I’m fed up working from home, so I might check out the rates at the local Hiltons to see if it makes sense to do a day working from there.

  • Great that this is becoming more accepted and common. It’ll provide much more flexibility with the type of travel we’ll move towards in the future.

  • Maria Caceres says:

Great opportunity! This day working at the room hotel is a secure place for our children too. The hotel accept children in this working room?

  • María Cáceres says:

Great! We can use this new offer for make our travel more comfortable. We usually travel to Key West and need a comfortable pause during the journey. Good for us!

  • This is a nice offer. 10,000 points are worth $40-50 and many day rooms don’t cost much nore than that.

  • Wonder if it will work for regular stays?

  • They seem to be coming up with more ways to use hotel rooms. Now it is as an office for the day.

  • Besides the promotion, do you know if these Workspaces are available in all Hilton’s worldwide?

    • Based on the “Find A Hotel” link at the top of the Workspace page, it looks like the “Workspace” branding is only being applied to US, Canada, and the UK.

  • This would be more attractive if the stays counted towards elite tier qualification.

  • You forgot to mention that Hilton Day Use rates add a night and a stay credit for elite status purposes…

  • I couldn’t find the registration area.

    • Hey Ofer, looks like we made a mistake. It seems that you don’t need to register for this in advance.

      Here’s what I found in the T&C:

To be eligible for WorkSpaces by Hilton Honors Bonus Points Offer from Hilton Honors™ you must:

      1. 1.) be enrolled in the Hilton Honors™ program
      2. 2.) book a WorkSpaces by Hilton day rate under booking SRP DU or 1DY through your Hilton Honors account
      3. 3.) complete the stay within the promotional stay window. The first WorkSpaces by Hilton stay within the Promotional Period will earn 10,000 bonus points.
    • Definitely an interesting concept with these workspaces. All the hotels are hurting and I’ll take the 10k points!!

  • Don’t many want to spend the night as well if they book the rooms to work in?

    • No, not everyone. You have a meaningful % that need workspace during the day before an evening flight out of town. Then, I would imagine some % of users are actually local and not traveling, so they have their own home and bed to sleep in at the end of the day. They just need dedicated office space away from the house and its distractions.

  • I’ve looked into these offers but they always seem far too expensive for what you get. No elite credit is certainly a downside. Finally, The idea that they would charge resort fees is insulting if you really are there to get work done. But of course, resort fees are a whole other topic!
