World of Hyatt has introduced numerous promotions and incentives for its members over the last few months. Included in these is “Work From Hyatt” — which offers various benefits for booking a work-from-hotel-based stay. Now, Hyatt just announced a new facet of this promotion called ‘Office For The Day‘.

Office For The Day offers Hyatt fans discounted day rates (between 7 am and 7 pm) as a place to get away to work. Even better, with Hyatt's lowered status thresholds, this presents an excellent way for remote workers to earn Globalist status in 2021.

Who benefits from ‘Office For The Day'?

For some people (myself included), the freedom of working remotely is a blessing. However, for others, it presents a lot of complications.

If you don't already have a dedicated workspace in your home, remaining productive can be incredibly challenging. Naturally, most people design their homes to be comfortable and relaxing—a place to escape after a hard day's work. Unfortunately, those aren't always the same attributes that describe a functional workspace.

Moreover, with COVID-19 forcing widespread school closures, many are now forced to work in the same space as their kids. As most parents will tell you, that's a difficult task at best.

These are the folks that Hyatt is targeting for its Office For The Day promotion.

Earn Elite Status from Day Rooms

With Hyatt's reputation for taking excellent care of top-tier loyalists, Hyatt Globalist is often regarded as the most valuable status in the world of hotel loyalty. Unfortunately, earning Globalist isn't easy. Under normal circumstances, loyalists need to stay 60 nights in a calendar year to earn the privilege.

That's changing for 2021. Hyatt recently announced that it's halving the requirements for earning elite status in 2021. Moreover, it's extending its popular ‘Bonus Journeys' promotion, which offers double elite night credit for stays between January 1, 2021 and February 28, 2021 (in addition to other offers).

What does this have to do with Office For The Day? According to the promotion's terms and conditions, day rates count towards elite status qualification. That means if you work 15 days in a Hyatt from January 1st through February 28th, you will qualify for Hyatt Globalist. Thanks to the double elite nights promotion, that will earn you 30 qualifying nights. And that's all that's needed to earn Globalist in 2021. Even better, status is good through the end of the year after qualification. So, you'd remain a Globalist through early 2023!

Bottom Line

Hyatt has announced a new aspect of its ‘Work from Hyatt' promotion called ‘Office For The Day'. It provides inexpensive day rates to give loyalists working remotely a quiet place to be productive. Moreover, as stays qualify for elite status, it presents an easy way to earn Hyatt Globalist in early 2021.

With rates starting at $65, it'll be up to every worker to decide whether the space justifies the price. However, with Hyatt's lowered status thresholds in 2021, the notion of easy Globalist status is a great motivator.

This is a great opportunity to achieve elite status with day rooms, which traditionally have not garnered stay credit.

This might benefit me for the times where I work some overnight shifts. I would use the room to sleep on arriving at the city then go to work overnight. Usually this requires me to have a room for two nights but this day room option might work even better and be cheaper. I will have to keep it in mind for those situations.

$65 a day seems like an expensive office to me. Coworking spots must be cheaper!

Yes, a coworking desk would certainly be cheaper, but this is more than that, as it’s your own private office, not having to share space with anyone. It’s true peace and quiet versus any coworking environs.

I would even have a comfortable sleep in the room after finishing my work in a productive manner 🙂

I just got off the phone with Hyatt getting a full explanation of the promos and I was told that only the nights stayed thru Jan 4 will count as 2 qualified nights but you have until Feb 28th to reach the 30 qualified nights needed for Globalist.

That’s concerning that the agent didn’t get the memo on the promotion extension. On Nov 30, Hyatt announced an extension of the double elite nights promo through Feb 28:
“Bonus Journeys – Members globally have more time to take advantage of World of Hyatt’s most rewarding global promotion, providing members the ability to earn up to quadruple points on eligible spend at 1,000+ participation locations worldwide through February 28, 2021, if they register by January 15, 2021. Plus, members can earn double Tier-Qualifying Night credits – yet another way for members to accelerate toward earning tier status in 2021.”

Safer than Starbucks and a nice path to higher World of Hyatt status, but if I needed a workspace getaway from a busy household during the pandemic and didn’t want to rent office space, I’d probably consider something that was exclusively available to me 24×7 and served breakfast, such as Bonvoy Residence Inn.

Seems like a pretty good deal and while it’s not as affordable as a co-working space, it’s more quiet and has the added bonus of the upgraded status

I find the Hyatt proposal extremely interesting, especially knowing the excellence in its attention and services. Today, for those of us who do our work from home and have children, it can be extremely advantageous and at the same time motivating. I believe that the positive side of the pandemic must be found and undoubtedly this company has found it.
