Update: Wyndham emailed members that linked their Wyndham Rewards account to Bakkt to alert them that the Bakkt app is shutting down. March 15, 2023 is the last day that you'll be able to earn or redeem Wyndham Rewards points through Bakkt.

Wyndham Rewards members can earn up to 1,250 bonus points by linking their accounts to Bakkt and completing qualifying activities.

Redeeming points through the Bakkt App isn't great, considering that Bakkt points are only worth 0.35 cents each. However, 1,250 bonus points is a decent bonus since you're hardly doing any work.

Here's how to take advantage of this promotion.

What is Bakkt?

The Bakkt digital wallet app is a relatively new platform where customers can manage their digital assets. This includes cryptocurrencies, loyalty and rewards points, airline miles, and gift cards.

There are several hotel and airline partners that connect to Bakkt, such as Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Radisson, and Wyndham. You can transfer points from these rewards programs to Bakkt and redeem them for cash, gift cards, etc.

That's not necessarily a good idea, as the points will usually fetch a better value when keeping them in the loyalty program.

Recently, Bakkt has teamed up with Apple and Google Pay. You can now connect your digital wallet to those platforms for purchases, as well.

1,250 Bonus Points After Linking Wyndham Rewards to Bakkt

To celebrate its partnership with the Bakkt App, Wyndham Rewards is offering members 500 bonus points for linking their account to the app.

There is no current expiration date for this promotion, although it's limited to the first million Wyndham Rewards members that participate. That participation number clearly hasn't happened yet.

Once linked, you can then transfer your Wyndham Rewards points to the app to use as cash. After your first transfer, you will receive an additional 750 bonus points.

Unfortunately, Bakkt points are only valued at 0.35 cents each. Wyndham Rewards points are generally worth about double that rate. Thankfully, you can transfer as few as 100 Wyndham Rewards points to Bakkt to qualify for the bonus.

In sum, you could send about $0.70 worth of Wyndham points to Bakkt and earn a total of 1,250 points.

Terms and Conditions

• This promotion is limited to the first one million Wyndham Rewards members who apply.
• Each member can only claim the bonus points once.
• Bonus points should post to your account within 24 hours of completing the required action (linking the accounts or transferring points) but usually post instantly.

This promotion originally ran during the spring of 2022 and offered 3,000 bonus points. If you took advantage of that promotion, then you aren't eligible for this one. If you missed that promotion, there's a chance to still get a bonus.

Our Take

It's not a great idea to transfer a lot of Wyndham Rewards points to Bakkt during this promotion.

The redemption rate kinda sucks, to be honest. However, transferring the minimum of 100 points is not a bad idea due to the 1,250 bonus points that you'll get. The end result can be a few bucks in profit for just a few minutes worth of work.

Please note that many people have had trouble registering for or using the Bakkt App. This mainly comes down to using a digital phone number (such as Google Voice), accessing the app through a VPN, or having your credit reports frozen. If you can make it through these barriers, you should be able to take advantage of this promotion for an easy profit.
