In a recent email to Privilege Club members, Qatar Airways announced the launch of its “My Reward Seat Finder” tool. The new tool allows members to search for awards using a calendar format for any given route. Here's how it works.

Qatar Airways My Reward Seat Finder Overview
The new “My Reward Seat Finder” is subject to the following limits:
- You must have at least 50% of the Avios needed to make a booking.
- The tool only shows Qatar Airways awards, not Oneworld or other partner awards.
- You can search for awards up to 12 months in advance.
- Availability depends on the number of seats searched.
- Connecting flight availability may vary depending on the departure city.
- The price displayed is the lowest across all cabins.
- Award upgrades depend on the base fare paid and city pairing.
How Qatar Airways’ New My Reward Seat Finder Tool Works
Using the tool is relatively straightforward. First, go to the My Reward Seat Finder webpage and select the route you want to search for. In our case, we looked for an award in March 2025 from New York (JFK) to Bangkok (BKK) in economy.

Once you hit check availability, the tool will display the result. As you can see below, every day offered awards for 47,500 Avios one-way.

At this point, things get complicated. You must have at least half of the Avios needed for the booking to proceed. When I clicked on “Show Flights,” I got a prompt stating I didn’t have enough Avios to proceed.

However, if you have enough Avios in your account, you'll first see a pop-up explaining the different types of award fares:
- Classic awards.
- Flexi awards.
- Mixed travel awards.
Once you clear that pop-up, you'll see all of the award flight options available for that date, including premium cabins if available:

We decided to repeat the search for the same time and route but for premium cabin awards. Unfortunately, we received the same results as before, and the search results only showed economy awards:

So, we tried a different route — this time on Qatar's nonstop route from New York (JFK) to Doha (DOH). And voila, there's premium cabin award pricing:

Based on our poking around, it seems that Qatar will only show premium cabin award pricing as long as there's at least one date with premium availability that month.

Key Problems With the Qatar Airways My Reward Seat Finder
Two crucial problems with the Qatar Airways My Reward Seat Finder take a lot of the shine off the tool's usefulness.
- The inability to see the full award picture without having the prerequisite points balance is frustrating. Why would you commit to transferring points to Qatar before you know precisely what you will be booking?
- The way the tool functions can make finding premium cabin award space tedious. It seems Qatar only shows premium cabin award space when there's at least one date with availability that month. But this isn't communicated, so it can leave travelers checking each date to try to find premium cabin space. That defeats the entire purpose of the My Reward Seat Finder tool.

Our Take
The Qatar Airways My Reward Seat Finder is an excellent idea — but has some notable limitations.
First, most AwardWallet readers are likely going to wait to transfer points to Avios until after they find available award space. Creating a situation where it is impossible to get the complete picture of available award space without transferring the points first dramatically reduces the usefulness of this tool.
Then, the way Qatar displays (or doesn't display) premium cabin award pricing can be quite confusing. It would be better to show a calendar with zero availability rather than simply showing economy award pricing.
Hopefully, Qatar Airways will listen to some feedback and make some changes to this excellent tool. If it does, we'll update this post to reflect that.
