Qatar Airways is capitalizing on the opportunity left by American Airlines as they end their New York (JFK) to Doha route. The last American Airlines flight from JFK to Doha will take off on Friday, October 27, 2023. Beginning on Monday, October 30, 2023, Qatar Airways will fill that void with a third daily flight from New York (JFK) to Doha, Qatar.
Qsuite award availability had recently almost disappeared between North America and Doha, so adding a third flight from JFK with at least two business class seats available per flight was a nice surprise (thanks to @findflightsforme for flagging this). Lots of outbound flights have already been booked; however, there's still plenty of availability for return flights from Doha to New York.
Qatar Qsuite Award Availability
- Route: New York (JFK) – Doha, Qatar (DOH)
- Dates: November 2023 – February 2024
- Number of passengers: 2x per flight
- Award pricing: 70,000 Avios — which only requires 54,000 American Express points with the current Avios transfer bonus
- Surcharges and Fees: $98.75 outbound / ~$154 return
How to Book This Qatar Qsuite Award Availability
Qatar Airways is also a member of Oneworld and is typically bookable via American Airlines. However, these awards seats are available via British Airways Executive Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club at the moment. It's worth noting that they might be bookable over the phone with American Airlines.
The surcharges are a bit higher when booked via British Airways.

A 30% transfer bonus from American Express to British Airways brings your cost down to 54,000 Amex points each way. You could also combine your British Airways with Qatar Airways. If you want to go beyond Doha, you could take advantage of British Airways' sweet spots on Qatar Airways or take a look at Qatar's new partner award chart.
How about starting your flight in Bangkok and flying more than seven hours on Qatar Airways First Class to Doha, followed by almost 15 hours in a Qsuite for only 95,000 Avios and about $235? It's a shame there's not enough time on the layover to fully enjoy the Al Sawfa first-class lounge in Doha.
Boost Your Mileage Balance
If your British Airways or Qatar Airways Avios balance is low and you want to book one of these awards, you have plenty of options. You can move points from any of these sources to British Airways:
Bottom Line
Qatar Airways added a third daily flight between New York (JFK) and Doha, Qatar. This opened up award availability for up to two seats per flight from when the flight will begin operating on October 30, 2023, until about March 2024. Though a lot of award space has dried up, it's nice to see QSutie award availability between North America and Doha, Qatar.
