After the recent Chase Sapphire Reserve® overhaul, you might be wondering how to make the most of the card’s brand-new statement credits and perks. One of the newest benefits is dining credits, worth up to $300 each year.

So, how do they work, and where can you use them? Here's everything you need to know about the Sapphire Reserve dining credits.

What is the Sapphire Reserve Dining Credit?

As you probably know, the revamped Sapphire Reserve now comes with a higher annual fee, along with several new coupon-like credits that can help offset the cost.

One of the biggest additions is up to $300 in annual dining credits at select restaurants — split into a $150 credit from January through June and another $150 from July through December. These restaurants are mostly located in major metro areas across the United States.

It’s worth noting that while new cardholders can use this benefit right away, existing members who applied before June 23, 2025, won’t get access until October 26, 2025.

How Does the Sapphire Reserve Dining Credit Work?

The dining credit is fairly simple to use, as long as you’re near one of the participating restaurants or plan to visit one during your travels.

You can apply the credit across multiple purchases, giving you flexibility to reach the $150 cap. There’s no need to enroll or register; credits will automatically post to your account after dining at a participating restaurant and paying with your Sapphire Reserve.

Although this benefit is offered in partnership with OpenTable, you don’t need to book through OpenTable to qualify. Just use your Sapphire Reserve to pay the bill, and it should trigger the credit.

That said, not all transactions will qualify. Delivery, takeout, merchandise, gift cards, and some digital wallet payments may not be recognized as eligible dining purchases. It can also take six to eight weeks for the credit to appear on your statement.

This is a use-it-or-lose-it benefit. If you don’t use the first $150 by the end of June/December, it won’t roll over.

Where Can You Use the Sapphire Reserve Dining Credit?

Only restaurants that are part of the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables program are eligible for the dining credit.

If you don’t live in a major city, you may not find any qualifying spots nearby. In that case, your best bet is to use the credits while traveling. That said, based on the restaurants I recognize from the list, the selection is genuinely impressive. Many are top dining destinations in their cities, including Michelin-starred spots and well-regarded local favorites.

It’s also worth clarifying that the full list of restaurants offering priority reservations through the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables portal is not the same as the list of restaurants eligible for the $300 dining credit.

Only certain restaurants qualify for the credit, and using your Sapphire Reserve to pay at one of those specific locations is what triggers the benefit. Here are the eligible restaurants as of publication:

Is the Dining Credit Worth Face Value?

The value of this credit really depends on your dining habits and where you live. I’m in a city with plenty of participating restaurants, and we enjoy elevated dining experiences. So, for me, this credit is worth the full $300. I’d likely eat at these spots anyway, with or without the benefit.

But if you’re in a smaller city, the value might be harder to capture. If you have to go out of your way or change your habits just to use the credit, it may feel more like a coupon than actual savings.

There’s also the added task of keeping track of one more benefit. If you forget to use it, you could miss out on the value altogether.

Bottom Line

The dining credits probably aren’t a strong reason to open the Sapphire Reserve unless you’re confident you’ll actually use them. Even then, they are less of a bonus and more of a way to chip away at that hefty annual fee.

For cardholders who live near participating restaurants and already enjoy elevated dining, the credit can offer real value. But if you need to change your habits or go out of your way just to use it, this perk is more of a nice-to-have than a game-changer. As with many premium card benefits, the real value depends on how well it fits your lifestyle.
