UPDATE: Chase has reduced the signup bonus on The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card to two free nights after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening.
Yesterday, we highlighted some of the exciting enhancements to The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card. This new Visa Infinite card from Chase receives
an increased signup bonus of three two complimentary nights in a category 1-4 Ritz-Carlton property after meeting the minimum spend, $300 annual travel credit, $100 hotel credit for every 2+ night paid stay at Ritz-Carlton properties and complimentary Ritz-Carlton Gold Elite status, to name just a few of the benefits.
Today we're focusing on one of the standout features of the new Ritz-Carlton Card, the $100 airline credit on multi-passenger tickets. This post will be one in a series digging deeper into each of the Ritz-Carlton Card's primary benefits, the value they add, and how to get the most from each benefit.
What is the Visa Infinite Discount Air Benefit?
This benefit saves you $100 on the total cost when 2 to 5 passengers travel a qualifying roundtrip, domestic U.S. coach tickets, purchased on the same itinerary through www.VisaDiscountAir.com/ritzcarltoncard. An exclusive benefit for Visa Infinite cardholders and a new addition to the Ritz-Carlton Card, this is one the many benefits that has moved this card into the top tier of premium rewards cards. Here's why:
There are no limits on the number of times you can use this benefit.
How many times may I use the discount in any given year?
Eligible cardmembers can use the discount an unlimited number of times, as long as they remain eligible as defined by Chase and as long as they meet the offer terms and conditions.
When purchasing domestic round-trip tickets through the Visa Infinite travel portal, a $100 discount will automatically be applied to the total on qualifying flights. And this is not some roundabout way of getting you to pay more for tickets than you'll pay elsewhere, all fares we have seen to date have been on par with what we can book direct and the benefit can be applied to all qualifying fares as long as a minimum of 2 roundtrip fares are purchased. That said, it always pays to benchmark the price of your airfare through Google Flights or ITA Matrix to ensure you're getting the best price possible.
Note: The primary cardholder must be the primary passenger on the itinerary.
You can choose from most major domestic airlines although flights with some airlines “such as Allegiant, Frontier, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines, are not eligible for this benefit.”
Do you earn Frequent Flyer miles on flights purchased through the Visa Infinite Travel Portal?
Yes, you can either add your frequent flyer number to your reservation or call the frequent flyer program to add flights at a later date. Airline miles earned will still be determined by the fare class and airline flown.
How do you register for the Visa Infinite Discount Air Benefit?
You will need to complete the following steps to participate:
- Visit www.VisaDiscountAir.com/ritzcarltoncard.
- Enter the 16 digits on your U.S.-issued Visa Infinite card (the card number is used to verify eligibility for the offer).
- Once your eligibility is confirmed, search for your itinerary.
- Follow the instructions to complete your purchase using your Visa Infinite credit card.
A few things to Note:
- The $100 discount is applied to the total cost of the itinerary, not per ticket
- The cardmember's name on the Visa Infinite card being used to purchase the tickets must match the primary traveler's name on the itinerary
- Ticket must be purchased in full using a U.S.-issued Visa Infinite card
- Valid only for round-trip travel between cities within the 50 United States of America
- Minimum 1-Day advance purchase.
- Tickets are non-refundable.
- Not available on one-way fares.
The Visa Infinite Discount Air Benefit is a fantastic addition to The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card. If you are a frequent flyer within the continental US, this benefit alone could potentially save you hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars per year.
Always double check your ticket prices with what is available from the airline and OTA's to ensure you are getting the best price and make sure you have read the Terms & Conditions on the Visa Discount Air website.
