Update: The Spirit Flyaway sweepstakes closed to entries on June 9, 2021. However, you can still get lucky when flying the special “Spirit Untamed” aircraft.
In an all-too-fitting partnership, Spirit Airlines is partnering up with DreamWorks Animation for its newest film “Spirit Untamed.” As part of the partnership, Spirit Airlines will give away 1,000 Free Spirit points to a lucky passenger every time its newly repainted Spirit Untamed plane takes to the skies.
Spirit Untamed Plane Makeover
Spirit Untamed is a film about a girl named Lucky and her horse named Spirit. The synopsis from IMDB is “Lucky Prescott's life is changed forever when she moves from her home in the city to a small frontier town and befriends a wild mustang named Spirit.” Spirit Untamed arrives in cinemas on June 4, 2021.
Both names, Lucky and Spirit, align directly with Spirit Airlines, so it seems natural for them to team up. In celebration of the film, one plane from Spirit's fleet of 160 Airbus Aircraft has received a makeover with an image from the movie. The plane starts off from Spirit's Detroit hanger and began flying around Spirit's routes starting May 20, 2021.
Get Lucky When Flying the Spirit Untamed Aircraft
Every time Spirit's “Spirit Untamed” plane takes off, one lucky passenger in the “Lucky Horseshoe Seat” will receive 1,000 Free Spirit points, as well as a complimentary digital rental of “Spirit Untamed.” If you're one of the lucky passengers, you'll have even longer to use those points thanks to Spirit's recent expiration policy change.

Final Thoughts
This is a fun little promotion by Spirit Airlines to make one of its planes just a little more attractive and fun to fly. While it's still going to be a tight fit, Spirit Airlines has recently upgraded its fleet with more usable legroom and the Big Front Seat. Plus, Spirit's recently relaunched Free Spirit program gives travelers a little more reason to fly Spirit.

can’t wait to try
Has the quality of Spirit changed at all in the last five years or so? I’ve taken exactly one flight with them and vowed never again, but this has me intrigued….
Depends on your definition of quality! Spirit has added some key features like Wi-Fi and some new (very thin and hard) seats. With that said, I’d definitely consider flying Spirit again. I’d book the cheap fare and use some of my savings to book a Big Front Seat.
They are flying to my hometown nowadays aMF their prices are much cheaper than the usual suspects, but I’m still hesitant to pull the trigger and give them a try.
I have always had the impression that Spirit was an unpleasant airline to fly, but it seems they are trying to improve their product. At the same time, other airlines continue to cut corners. I may just have to give Spirit a chance one day.
I avoid Spirit at all costs, flights are always delayed and there is no service on the plane.
I love the makeover and the great information in this blog post and the Spirit contest and a trip to Orlando sounds like fun!
I still do not really want to fly on an airline that nickel and dime their customer to death.
What a fun promotion. And the additional leg room is a welcome gift for sure.
Never can complain about free points or miles, why not!
Interesting for those willing to both fly for inessential travel and to go to Universal Studios at this time and to fly Spirit.
A clever promotion. I don’t see me flying NK any time soon (probably ever), but it’d be fun to be the onboard winner if I did.
Agreed. It makes the experience a bit more pleasant to have the chance to win some bonus points!
The Orlando holiday is sure fantastic, especially coming from Spirit.
Very nice offer. Orlando is always a good choice. Luck to all.
I’ve flown Spirit once and it’s ok for short distance cheap travel, but not fun.
Haha…fun and very in the spirit of Spirit!
I definitely think this was a good idea by Spirit. Makes them more family friendly and separates them from other budget airlines, especially with the change at 1,000 points
The prize offer is nice.
This is a fun promotion for those flying Spirit but certainly nothing that would induce me to fly the airline unless there was no other option.
