Just in time for the holiday season, United and Chase are offering a new promotion to targeted United cardholders. Select cardholders get the choice to earn up to 20,000 bonus MileagePlus miles or get a total of $200 in TravelBank cash in 2021. But, you'll need to register by December 15, 2020
20,000 Bonus Miles or $200 TravelBank Cash
If you're a United cardholder, start by clicking this link. Enter the last four digits of your card number and your MileagePlus account number to see if you're targeted. If targeted, you'll be able to select between receiving:
- $50 in TravelCash every quarter in 2021, for a total of $200 in TravelCash. Each TravelBank cash is valid for 90 days from the issuance.
- 5,000 bonus miles every quarter in 2021, for a total of 20,000 bonus miles. You must spend $5,000 on your registered card during the calendar quarter to receive the bonus. The bonus miles will be posted to your MileagePlus account within 6-8 weeks from the end of each calendar quarter.
Which United Cards Are Targeted?
The terms and conditions don't specify which United cards are targeted for this offer. Dan's Deals indicates that the following cards are targeted for this offer:
- The New United Club℠ Card
- United Club℠ Business Card
- United℠ Presidential Plus℠ Card (no longer available to new cardholders)
However, other United cards may be eligible. Let us know in the comments below if your United card was targeted or not.
Our Take
If you hold a United co-branded card, it's worth your time to click this link to see if you've been targeted. If you are, carefully consider which reward you want.
As the quarterly TravelBank cash expires 90 days after issuance, it requires you to make a United purchase once a quarter in 2021 to take advantage of this offer. Getting 5,000 United miles each quarter is certainly more flexible and should be more valuable. However, this option requires cardholders to spend at least $5,000 in the quarter to get the bonus. That's a stiff spending requirement for a modest bonus.
Either way, it's positive to see airlines and card issuers team up to offer promotions to cardholders. Hopefully, we will continue to see these types of incentives as travel resumes in 2021.
