Chase has extended the increased offer on the United℠ Explorer Card. This offer was due to expire on Wednesday, May 5th, but has now been extended. This card comes with great benefits and a modest annual fee—which is waived for the first year if you apply before the current offer ends.

But before you add the United Explorer Card to your wallet, you'll want to take a look at the New United Quest℠ Card—which made its debut last month with a huge 100,000-mile bonus. In this post, we'll break down the benefits of both cards to help you decide which one is the best for you.

We see this card as a great long-term value, thanks to excellent ongoing benefits that can more than account for the annual fee of $95 (waived for the first year).

If you fly United regularly and want a card with a more robust set of benefits, Chase recently launched the New United Quest℠ Card with an exceptional bonus of up to 100,000 miles.

Am I Eligible For the United Cards?

Even if you currently hold a United co-brand card, you can apply for another card in the United family of cards provided you:

  • Don't currently hold the same card you want to apply for or haven't received a bonus on it in the previous 24 months
  • Qualify under Chase's 5/24 policy – if you've opened five or more new credit cards in the last 24 months, you don't qualify for Chase cards

Final Thoughts

The increased sign-up bonus on the United Explorer Card is close to an all-time high. With the offer now extended past May 5, MileagePlus members have some extra time to pick up this card with the increased bonus.

However, if you fly United more than a few times per year, you can expect to get much more value from the recently launched United Quest Card.

This card currently sports the highest signup bonus of the four United co-brand cards. Plus, it comes stacked with first-class perks and benefits that can comfortably return more value than the annual fee each year.

Those are some amazing sign up bonuses. Even better now that United no longer has an expiry policy!

thanks for the great info! that 10,000 spending is quite high though.

Too bad I already have the card. I’ve still had value. I have really been able to get miles built up for a planned trip. I cannot wait to take advantage of the lounge with them. I have been able to take advantage for the promos that chase had for 5x the points for groceries.

Pretty good offer but if you’re closer to 5/24 I’d rather go for the CSP

Thanks for your advisory. Unfortunately, I am, and will continue to be for quite a while, a 5/24 victim.

Airline cards are really devaluating due to the pandemic situation. Hope travel can come back to normal soon.

Hi I applied for this cord over 1 month ago but have not heard anything back? Would love to have feedback on this?

Ooh. That’s not great that you haven’t heard anything. I’d recommend calling Chase to check on the status of your application. It seems the number is 888-338-2586.

Do I apply for this offer? I reside in Argentina.

      JT Genter says:

Probably not. Chase requires a Social Security Number (or a US Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) to apply. If you don’t have either of these, you wouldn’t qualify.
