With a host of benefits that have long justified the $395 annual fee, it's been easy to love the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. And if you're a Hertz renter, you've likely found value in the card's complimentary President's Circle elite status.
However, this benefit always had an end date attached. Since the card's launch, Capital One marketed that this Hertz President's Circle benefit would end on December 31, 2024.
As of today, that's no longer the case. Capital One quietly made changes to the status of the complimentary status benefit. Here's what you need to know.
Capital One Venture X Complimentary Hertz Elite Status Is Now an Ongoing Benefit
Hertz President's Circle elite status is nice to have if you can get it. With perks like guaranteed upgrades, access to the widest selection of cars in the Ultimate Choice lot, bonus points on rentals, and more, there's a net benefit to holding the status if you regularly rent through Hertz.
Travelers typically need to complete 15 rentals or spend $3,000 on qualifying rentals to earn Hertz's top-tier status. Or, if you've got the Capital One Venture X, President's Circle is yours for free after enrolling in the benefit. This is now an ongoing benefit of the card, so it's no longer ending at the end of 2024.
Capital One made this Capital One Venture X benefit permanent without fanfare on September 16, 2024. But do note you'll still need to enroll to take advantage of it.
There are plenty of ways to get rental car elite status for free. The Capital One Venture X just happens to offer one of the best-value ways to do so — especially when you consider everything else the card offers, such as access to Capital One Lounges, anniversary miles, and more.
Even if Hertz isn't your agency of choice, consider leveraging a status match to Enterprise, Avis, and more. Plenty of options are on the table, so don't overlook your complimentary Hertz President's Circle status if you have the Capital One Venture X in your wallet.
