Since its launch in November 2021, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card has established itself as one of the best premium credit cards in the industry. It offers numerous perks, like an annual $300 Capital One Travel credit and 10,000 bonus miles on each account anniversary, in exchange for a lower-than-average $395 annual fee.
One of the less discussed perks of being a Capital One Venture X cardholder is access to reservations through the Capital One Premier Collection. Here's what to know about the Premier Collection, and what benefits cardholders receive when booking a Premier Collection property.
What Is the Capital One Premier Collection?
According to Capital One, the Premier Collection is a “handpicked selection of premium hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals.” It rivals the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts® program, available to American Express Platinum Card® holders, and The Edit, available to Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees) cardholders.
The properties in the Premier Collection come from luxury brands and collections such as Six Senses, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Leading Hotels of the World, Belmond, 1 Hotels, and Viceroy Hotels and Resorts, as well as boutique or independent hotels. Premier Collection vacation rental providers include Gather, AvantStay, HVN, and more. By booking through the Premier Collection, eligible cardholders can enjoy a range of benefits at properties worldwide.

Capital One Premier Collection benefits
More often than not, we recommend booking a hotel stay directly through the hotel. This unlocks elite benefits and the ability to earn points with that hotel's loyalty program. However, to make a Premier Collection booking, you have to go through the Capital One Travel portal.
Luckily, this means that Capital One Venture X and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders (via the Capital One Business Travel portal) can use their $300 annual travel credit on these bookings. And if you want to redeem miles to cover your stay, you can do so at the standard 1¢ redemption rate (though we don't recommend doing so).
While you might sacrifice some elite perks when booking through the travel portal, you will receive a variety of Premier Collection benefits that might be even more valuable, including:
- Earn 10X miles on paid hotel bookings
- Earn 5X miles on paid vacation rental bookings
- $100 experience credit
- Complimentary breakfast for two each day of your stay
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Complimentary room upgrades (when available)
- Early check-in and late checkout (when available)
- Get your fourth night free when you book a stay of at least four nights
How you use the $100 experience credit depends on whether you book a hotel or a vacation rental. At hotels, you can use it for dining or spa treatments, while you might use it for groceries or additional cleanings at vacation rentals.
The Premier Collection is unique in that every property allows you to use the credit for food and beverage purchases. That sets it apart from hotel collections like Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, which lets properties limit the credit to spa bookings or specific activities. To use the experience credit, simply charge the items to your room, and it will be applied to your bill at checkout.

However, Capital One also offers the Lifestyle Collection, a curated selection of stylish, upscale hotels around the world. Note that there is some overlap between brands included in the Lifestyle Collection and the Premier Collection. You might find a Viceroy Hotel in one city that is a member of the Premier Collection, while a Viceroy in a different city is a member of the Lifestyle Collection.

How to Book a Premier Collection Property
To book a Premier Collection stay, you'll need to log in to Capital One Travel (or the Capital One Business Travel portal, depending on your card. You can either search for a stay under the “Stays” tab and filter results by “Premier Collection,” or search only for Collection hotels under the “Premium Stays” tab.
If you're flexible on where you want to go, click “Explore all hotel and resort destinations” to see a list of cities or countries that offer Premier or Lifestyle Collection properties. Next, enter your dates and number of travelers, and click “Search.”
If you choose to search under the “Premium Stays” tab, you'll only see Premium or Lifestyle Collection hotels in the search results. If you searched under the “Stays” tab, click the “Premium stays only” filter to sort through the results.
When you find a hotel you're interested in, click it to learn more and select your room type. Once you choose a room, you'll enter your traveler information, select whether you'd like to apply rewards to your reservation, and complete your payment.
Our Take
The Capital One Premier Collection is yet another great benefit for an already strong duo of premier credit cards. The list of hotels in the collection represents some of the best small luxury hotels and boutique properties worldwide. If the price is comparable to other booking options, booking through the Premier Collection can make sense, thanks to the value-added perks baked into your reservation. When the price isn't the same, you'll need to do some math to see if booking here is worth it.
