The Capital One Spark Cash is one of the simplest business rewards cards to justify. It earns unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase, with no rotating categories or spending caps to track. That makes it especially useful for businesses with expenses spread across a wide range of categories.
And right now, the card is even more compelling thanks to its elevated offer of $1,000 cash back (plus a $250 Capital One Business Travel credit). For business owners who can meet the spending requirement, this offer can add meaningful cash-back value on top of the rewards earned from everyday purchases.
If your business values straightforward rewards, the Spark Cash deserves a close look. Here’s why this elevated offer is worth considering and how the card compares with other business rewards cards.

- Earn a $1,000 cash bonus plus for a limited time, earn a $250 Capital One Business Travel credit when you spend $10,000 within 3 months of account opening
- 2% cash back for your business on every purchase, everywhere
- No foreign transaction fees
- $0 intro for first year; $95 after that
- 2% Cash Back on every purchase
- 5% Cash Back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel
Spark Cash Elevated Offer
The Spark Cash has a new, elevated welcome offer. As a new applicant, you can earn $1,000 cash back (plus a $250 Capital One Business Travel credit) once you spend $10,000 within 3 months from account opening.
That's effectively 10% bonus cash back on the first $10,000 in business expenses charged to the card in the first three months of card membership — and that's before the cash back you'll earn from your everyday business spending and the $250 travel credit.
It’s a valuable offer for this particular card. Over the past few years, the typical bonus for new cardholders has been $500 or $750. From June to August 2025, we did see an offer for up to $1,500 cash back, albeit with a higher spending requirement. Still, this elevated offer deserves some consideration if you can meet the spending requirements.
Editor's Note: Some AwardWallet members have reported that Capital One approved their application with a $5,000 line of credit. That could make it more difficult if you are counting on one or more large purchases to meet the $10,000 spending requirement. If you don't have a long-established relationship with Capital One, it's a good idea to consider how you'll meet the welcome-offer requirements before applying.

Spark Cash Highlights
From a benefit standpoint, the Spark Cash is very simple. And that's part of what makes it a must-have for businesses that don't want to wrestle with a card that has tons of bells and whistles. So, let's expand on that.
- The Spark Cash has no annual fee for the first year. It's free to test-drive! From the second year on, you'll pay a $95 annual fee.
- The Spark Cash has two valuable earning categories. Earn 2% cash back on every purchase and 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
- No foreign transaction fees. If you do business abroad, pack and swipe the Spark Cash knowing you won't incur foreign transaction fees.
Although the card earns cash back, you can convert your cash back to Capital One Miles if you hold a miles-earning card like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. This opens up more redemption methods, like the chance to transfer miles to airline and hotel partners.
Business owners can also take advantage of $0 fraud liability, year-end expense summaries, purchase records, and free employee cards (with customized spending limits). Plus, you can access virtual card numbers, which allow you to make online payments without exposing your actual card number.
Who Is Eligible to Apply for the Spark Cash?
The Spark Cash is a business card. Thus, you need to own or operate a business before you fill out an application. But don't let this requirement deter you — lots of things count as businesses for the sake of card applications. Running an online store, walking dogs, or overseeing a large organization all count the same.
And there are a few more application rules and restrictions you'll want to be aware of. For example:
- You cannot have opened another Capital One card within the last six months.
- You cannot have more than five total Capital One personal cards, but this limit doesn't seem to apply to business cards.
- Capital One will likely pull your credit report from all three major credit bureaus. And this card will likely reflect on your personal credit report.
When filling out your application, you'll provide the same personal information as you do when applying for a consumer card — your name, Social Security Number, and your monthly rent or mortgage payment. However, you'll also need to provide some business information, which can include:
- Tax ID or Employer ID number (EIN), or an SSN for sole proprietorships
- Annual revenue
- Monthly business spend
- Names and information of other Beneficial Owners or Controllers
Having this information handy can make the application process seamless.

Alternatives to the Spark Cash
The Spark Cash is a rewarding card, but it's not for every business. If you're unsure if it's right for yours, consider these options instead:
- If you want to earn Capital One miles instead of cash back, consider the Capital One Venture Business. The Venture Business Card earns similarly to the Spark Cash — 2X Miles per $1 on every purchase, everywhere, and 5X Miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. And it also offers a $95 annual fee.
- If your business spends at a high velocity, consider the Capital One Spark Cash Plus. The Spark Cash Plus earns identically to the Spark Cash — 2% cash back on every purchase and 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel — but is a charge card instead of a typical credit card. Plus, Capital One will waive the $150 annual fee if you make $150,000 in purchases in a cardholder year.
- If you want to earn cash back and pay no annual fee for as long as your account remains open, consider The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card. The no-annual fee Blue Business Cash (Rates & Fees) earns 2% cash back on all eligible purchases on up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1% (issued as a statement credit). It's a simple earner, similar to the Spark Cash, but it's issued by American Express instead of Capital One.

Bottom Line
For businesses that value simplicity and cold, hard cash back on every purchase, the Spark Cash is a perfect fit. And thanks to a $0 introductory annual fee, you can re-evaluate the card's position in your wallet after a year and decide whether it's worth keeping around.
