At the beginning of August, Citi announced a major refresh of the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®. It added or enhanced many unique benefits, ranging from a $500 American Airlines Vacations credit to Omni Hotels & Resorts Champion status. As the most premium of the American Airlines credit cards, you'll enjoy unparalleled perks while traveling.

To celebrate the refresh, Citi is offering a best-ever welcome offer on the AA Executive Card. If you need a giant stash of American Airlines AAdvantage® miles, you should be excited about this massive limited-time offer. Couple its valuable benefits with this huge bonus, and right now could be a great time to add the AA Executive Card to your wallet.

Here's a look at what this card offers in the short term and long term.

Earn 125,000 Bonus Miles With the AA Executive Card

As a new cardholder, you can earn 125,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months of account opening. That's certainly a high spending requirement, but it's nice that you have a bit longer than normal to complete it. You'd need to average roughly $3,000 in spending on your card per month, so make sure this is doable before you apply.

AA Executive Card Application Rules and Restrictions

Applicants for the AA Executive Card will see the following restriction:

“New account bonus is not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive account in the past 48 months or if you converted another Citi credit card account on which you earned a new account bonus in the last 48 months into a Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive account. The card offer referenced in this communication is only available to individuals who reside in the United States and its territories, excluding Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.”

If you've earned a bonus on this card in the past 48 months, you aren't eligible for this increased offer. However, earning welcome bonuses on other AAdvantage credit cards or other Citi credit cards won't affect your eligibility in this case.

However, the Citi does have additional rules:

  • You'll only be approved for one personal credit card every eight days and a maximum of two cards every 65 days.
  • You'll only be approved for one small business credit card every 90–95 days.

Our Take

You can do a lot of flying with 125,000 AAdvantage miles. Beyond this juicy bonus, the AA Executive Card offers ongoing perks that last well after you've spent the miles from the welcome bonus.

The card's chief benefit is an annual membership to the Admirals Club, which can cost up to $1,400 for an individual membership. The card also offers quality earning rates on travel, a variety of annual credits with partners, travel perks when flying with American Airlines, and a boost to help you earn elite status. If you've had your eye on this card, don't delay.
