If you travel often, chances are you’ve relied on rideshare apps to get to or from the airport, a hotel, or even a dinner reservation in a new city. Holding a Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees) or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (Rates & Fees) can make every one of those Lyft rides more rewarding and help you squeeze more value from your card’s sky-high annual fee.

Both cards come with built-in Lyft benefits that can boost your points haul or even offset the cost of a few rides each month. Here’s how these perks work and how to make the most of them.

Overview Sapphire Reserve Lyft Benefits

Both Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve Business cardholders receive two valuable Lyft perks through the Chase/Lyft partnership through September 30, 2027. Together, these benefits can help frequent travelers save money on Lyft rides and earn more valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

The first perk is a $10 monthly Lyft credit when you use your Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve Business as the payment method in the Lyft app. That's up to $120 annually.

The second perk is the opportunity to earn 5X points on qualifying Lyft purchases. These include regular rideshare trips, as well as bike and scooter rentals and membership products such as Lyft Pink.

Why These Sapphire Reserve Benefits Matter

Rideshare apps have become a critical part of travel, whether you're heading to the airport or catching a ride back to the hotel after dinner. It’s in these everyday travel moments that the Chase/Lyft partnership proves its value, enhancing rides travelers already take.

The Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve Business each carry steep annual fees, but seasoned travelers know that either card's long list of “coupon book” style credits can easily offset that cost when used strategically.

The Lyft benefit provides up to $120 in annual value. It is one of the most effortless to use, with no enrollment or tracking required, and it provides tangible savings on something most cardholders use regularly.

And since Chase Ultimate Rewards are among the most valuable and flexible points in the industry, using the Sapphire Reserve for Lyft rides is an easy choice. The 5X earning rate can easily outperform other cards in your wallet, making it the smartest way to pay for rideshares.

For anyone who frequently finds themselves hopping between airports, hotels, and restaurants in new cities, this partnership quietly but consistently delivers extra value throughout the year.

How to Use Sapphire Reserve Lyft Credits

The Lyft credit is one of the easiest Sapphire Reserve credits to take advantage of. To start using your monthly credit, you'll need to link your Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve Business to your Lyft account and make sure it is set as the default payment method. Once it’s linked, the credit will automatically apply to eligible rides. There is no other activation or enrollment required.

Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Open the Lyft app and go to Payment under your account menu.
  2. Add your Sapphire Reserve if it’s not already listed.
  3. Set it as your default payment method for rides.
  4. Take a qualifying Lyft ride (not a Wait & Save or bike/scooter rental) to trigger the $10 credit.

When you pay for your ride, you’ll see the $10 off automatically applied at checkout. The discount reduces your fare at the time of booking, rather than applying it as a statement credit.

Credits don’t roll over from month to month, and can't be combined with other discounts. So you'll want to aim to make at least one qualifying ride each month to get full value.

Earn 5X Ultimate Rewards Points on Lyft Rides

But wait, there's more! When you pay with your Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve Business, you’ll also earn 5X points on qualifying Lyft purchases through September 30, 2027. This is on par with the best earning cards in the rideshare category of spend.

You’ll earn 5X points on:

  • Regular Lyft rides
  • Lyft Pink memberships
  • Lyft bike and scooter rides

However, these do not qualify for the 5X bonus:

  • Gift cards
  • Car rentals and vehicle service centers
  • Miscellaneous fees and other non-ride transactions

Bonus points post automatically on your Chase statement as a separate line from your base points.

Bottom Line

The Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve Business makes it easy to get extra value from everyday travel spending. Between the $10 monthly Lyft credit and 5X earning potential, this partnership helps offset either card’s high annual fee while earning extra-valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards.

There’s no activation or tracking required. Just add your card to the Lyft app, take a qualifying ride, and the credit and bonus points apply automatically. For frequent travelers who already rely on Lyft, it’s an effortless way to save a little and earn more on the rides you’re taking anyway.
