Now that CitizenM is fully integrated into Marriott Bonvoy, you can book both paid and award stays at all CitizenM properties through the Marriott website and app. As a reminder, Marriott acquired CitizenM in July 2025, and the integration process moved quickly. By November 2025, the integration was complete, and CitizenM became one of the newest Marriott Bonvoy brands.
In my opinion, this was a welcome addition to the Marriott portfolio, as it offers travelers something truly unique.

What Is CitizenM?
If you're unfamiliar, CitizenM is a lifestyle hotel brand with a very distinct design element. If you've stayed at one of the 37 properties sprinkled around the globe, you've likely noticed a few things — small, tech-enabled rooms, affordable rates, and a variety of common spaces for travelers to connect. It has a youthful vibe, and the properties are often situated in fantastic locations.
CitizenM properties have several distinct spaces apart from the actual rooms. You can find living spaces that are great for relaxing with friends. The canteenM offers a variety of food and beverage options and is open 24/7. SocietyM provides co-working spaces and meeting rooms for those working in their destination, while cloudM is the name of the rooftop bar where you can grab a drink after work.
The brand has embraced tech far beyond the rooms, too — you can check in and out via a touchscreen in the lobby in seconds. No waiting in long lines when all you want is to head to your room.
I stayed at CitizenM Paris Gare de Lyon a few years ago and was very impressed with the hotel, given that the rates were substantially lower than anything else in the area. Although the rooms at most CitizenM properties are small, you can often find an XL king bed with a wall-to-wall window. It's perfect for couples or solo travelers.
Now that the integration is complete, I'm thrilled at the opportunity to use my Marriott Bonvoy points earned with my Marriott Bonvoy Bevy® American Express® Card(Rates & Fees) on CitizenM bookings.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points on CitizenM Stays
All CitizenM properties are available for booking through Marriott. Members of both MyCitizenM+ and Marriott Bonvoy can earn and redeem points on CitizenM stays and will enjoy additional benefits based on their Bonvoy elite status. Base members will earn 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 spent on CitizenM stays, and one Elite Night Credit per qualifying night.
For instance, you can book a single guest room at the CitizenM Amsterdam Amstel for four nights in February for 668€ (~$775), including taxes and fees. This would allow a base member to earn roughly 7,000 Bonvoy points on the stay.

Redeeming Marriott Bonvoy Points on CitizenM Stays
Marriott employs dynamic pricing for its award nights, and CitizenM is no exception to that rule. Using the example above, a single guest room for four nights in February at the CitizenM in Amsterdam would cost 160,000 points per stay.
This gives you a valuation of less than half a cent per point, which is subpar. AwardWallet users typically redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for a value of 0.93¢ cents per point. This isn't to say that all CitizenM properties will provide poor value, but be sure to do the math so you avoid wasting your points.
One way to get a little more value from your points would be to extend your stay by an additional tonight to take advantage of Marriott's Stay for 5, Pay for 4 deal. This means you could stay five nights at the CitizenM Amsterdam Amstel for the same 160,000 points per stay, but the cash rate shoots up to 808€ (~$940). It doesn't change the point value by too much, but every little bit helps.

Marriott Elite Benefits During CitizenM Stays
Gold Elite status holders will receive a 250-point welcome gift when staying at a CitizenM property, while Platinum Elite and higher can choose either 500 bonus points per stay or a $10 food and beverage credit per night for themselves and a guest. Elites will also receive the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee, a 10% gift shop discount, and late checkout. Other perks, like a 48-hour guarantee, are reserved for top-tier elites.
The integration also brought about an interesting feature — the ability to buy Marriott Gold Elite status. For $170 a year, you can subscribe to the MyCitizenM+ membership, which includes:
- 15% discount on retail rates for direct bookings
- Up to 30% discount during sales
- 15% off food and drinks (except breakfast)
- 15% off meeting rooms
- Free co-working (except in Taipei)
- Marriott Gold elite status benefits
If you don't get elite status through a credit card, and you frequently stay at CitizenM properties, the membership might be worth it.

Bottom Line
You can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points on all CitizenM stays. Although the redemption rate might not be the best we've ever seen, it's fantastic to be able to earn Marriott points at even more properties worldwide. CitizenM fills a huge gap in Marriott's portfolio, and allows budget-conscious travelers to explore without breaking the bank.
If you want to have plenty of points available for your next CitizenM stay, or you'd like to enjoy elite status benefits, consider applying for a Marriott Bonvoy credit card.

- Receive 1 Free Night Award every year after your Card renewal month.
