Marriott is officially bringing its newest brand to the U.S. market. Series by Marriott is a collection of independent hotel brands that boast of friendly service, practical accommodations, and a good value for your money.

With this addition, Marriott now has over three dozen brands across four subcategories — luxury, premium, select, and long stays. Here's everything we know about Series by Marriott so far.

What Is Series by Marriott?

Series by Marriott is described as “regional hotel brands that take pride in telling their story, while offering simple solutions in the right locations for travelers.” In other words, Series by Marriott will be a collection of independent brands, similar to the Autograph Collection or Luxury Collection.

Marriott partnered with FOUND Hotels to bring the Series by Marriott brand to the U.S. market. FOUND describes itself as a local and approachable lifestyle hotel. Some even offer co-working spaces — which is exciting to hear as a digital nomad myself.

Travelers can expect five FOUND locations to join the Series by Marriott brand over the next year:

  • FOUND Miami Beach
  • FOUND Chicago, IL
  • FOUND San Francisco Nob Hill, CA
  • FOUND Santa Monica, CA
  • FOUND San Diego, CA

In addition, Marriott announced in May 2025 that three brands in India — The Fern, The Fern Residency, and The Fern Habitat — will affiliate with Series by Marriott. It's not clear what the timeline for this integration is, but it's clear that Marriott is ensuring that Series by Marriott will have a global presence. The Fern's portfolio currently includes a total of 115 properties and 8,000 rooms.

There are additional talks to bring Series by Marriott into other markets, including more United States locations, the Caribbean and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points at Series by Marriott Properties

Bad news, Marriott loyalists: Marriott Bonvoy members staying at Series by Marriott properties will only earn 5X points per dollar spent. You'll also only earn one elite night credit for every two nights on a per-stay basis.

This is lower than many other Marriott brands, which earn 10X points per dollar. These earning rates put Series by Marriott into the same earning bracket as Protea Hotels, City Express, and Four Points Flex.

The good news is that Series by Marriott still will count as a Marriott brand. So, you'll earn the full amount of bonus points when paying for your stay with one of the following cards:

Marriott Elite Benefits and Exclusions at Series by Marriott

Travelers are eligible to get the following benefits at Series by Marriott properties:

  • Elite Welcome Gift: Marriott Gold Elite members will receive a welcome gift of 250 Points per stay. Platinum Elite and higher members can choose a welcome gift of 500 points or breakfast in the on-site restaurant per night of stay for the member and one additional person.
  • Ultimate Reservation Guarantee: If a Series by Marriott cannot accommodate your confirmed booking, Silver and Gold Elite members will receive compensation of $50. Platinum Elite members and higher will receive $50 and 45,000 Points.
  • Guaranteed Room Type: If a Series by Marriott property doesn't have the room type you booked, you will receive compensation of $25.

Unfortunately, according to the Marriott Bonvoy terms and conditions, there are several benefits that are not available at Series by Marriott locations, including a gift shop discount or guaranteed lounge access. Since these are lifestyle hotels rather than luxury properties, it makes sense.

Final Thoughts

New brands from major hotel chains are always exciting. If you have a stash of Marriott Bonvoy points, you'll be able to redeem those points for new hotels in new cities around the world. More options and a greater flexibility in how you redeem points is almost always a good thing.

Although we don't know too much about the new Series by Marriott brand, we know that it's supposed to encompass a variety of regional brands that emphasize locality and design. So far, it sounds remarkably similar to Unscripted by Hyatt, which was announced around the same time. As more information comes out about Series by Marriott, we will keep you updated.
