One of the biggest selling points of American Express’ premium cards is the lounge access they offer. But if you have one of these cards, you’ll need to start the clock. Later this year, Amex will remove Card Member access to Lufthansa lounges.
Here's what to know.
Amex Ending Card Member Access to Lufthansa Lounges
Amex has a more extensive lounge network than you might realize through the American Express Global Lounge Collection®. This includes not just The Centurion Lounge locations, but also participating Priority Pass lounges, Plaza Premium Group lounges, Aspire Lounges, Delta Sky Club locations, Lufthansa lounges, and more (Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.).
But on October 1, 2026, you’ll have to subtract Lufthansa lounges from that list. On April 9, American Express informed AwardWallet of the following:
American Express® Card Members will no longer have access to Lufthansa Lounges effective October 1, 2026. Eligible American Express Card Members continue to have access to more than 1,550 airport lounges worldwide, including 32 locations in the Centurion Lounge Network — and can find a current list of airport lounges at www.americanexpress.com/findalounge.
These changes will impact American Express Platinum Card®, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, and Centurion® Card from American Express holders who — until later this year — can access participating Lufthansa lounges when flying a Lufthansa Group airline on a same-day ticket.
Once access officially ends, it’s possible you’ll still be able to find a Lufthansa lounge via Priority Pass (Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.). But at this point, it’s unclear if any Lufthansa lounges currently in the Priority Pass network plan to exit.

Bottom Line
It goes without saying that this is disappointing news, even if it’s not a benefit you personally used often. And it’s just the latest in a string of negative headlines for those in the Amex ecosystem. In case you missed it, Amex also recently announced the end date of its transfer partnership with Etihad Airways, devalued a couple of other transfer partnerships within the past few months, and scheduled the removal of the Platinum Card® Saks credit.
Sure, there have been a few positives lately, such as announcements of new Centurion Lounge locations and expansions of existing ones. But the scales are still tipping negative, and that’s understandably frustrating.
