How To Maximize This Virgin Atlantic Transfer Bonus
Short-haul Delta awards
Virgin Flying Club uses a distance-based award chart for Delta awards (excluding routes to/from mainland Europe). That's bad news if you want to fly far. But it can be a great option for short-haul domestic awards.
Routes under 500 miles cost just 7,500 points. When AwardWallet dug into this sweet spot, we found 460+ Delta routes that price at just 7,500 Virgin points. During this transfer bonus, you'll only need to transfer 6,000 Ultimate Rewards points to book one of them.

After the latest Flying Club devaluation of Delta awards, Delta routes between 501 and 1,000 miles now cost 11,000 points. While that might not be the best option for domestic flights, you can use this distance band to book expensive flights like Atlanta to Nassau, Bahamas during the summer:

You'll need to transfer 8,000 Ultimate Rewards points to book this one-way award during this 40% Chase to Flying Club transfer bonus.
ANA business and first class to Japan
The standout sweet spot for Virgin Atlantic redemptions is one-way awards on ANA between Japan and the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. A glance at the Virgin Atlantic partner award chart for ANA makes the value clear:

One-way awards in ANA business class from the U.S. West Coast/Canada/Australia to Japan cost 52,500 Virgin points. ANA business class from the U.S. East Coast/Mexico/Europe costs just a bit more at 60,000 Virgin points plus taxes and fees.
These awards can provide incredible value — even without a transfer bonus. Add in a 40% transfer bonus, and the deals become unreal.
For a flight to the West Coast, you would need to transfer 38,000 Ultimate Rewards points during this Virgin Atlantic transfer bonus. If you are heading to the U.S. East Coast, Mexico, or Europe, you only need to transfer 43k points during this promotion. That is definitely an excellent use of your points.
ANA first-class awards are a bit more expensive but worth snagging if you can find the availability. You'll need to transfer 52k Chase points to get enough Virgin points for a one-way ANA first-class award to the U.S. West Coast or 61k Chase points for Central/Eastern U.S.
| Route | Cabin | Virgin Points Needed (one-way) | Point Transfer Needed (during 40% transfer bonus) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hawaii - Japan | ANA business class | 37,500 Virgin points | 27k points |
| U.S. West Coast - Japan | ANA business class | 52,500 Virgin points | 38k points |
| U.S. East Coast - Japan | ANA business class | 60,000 Virgin points | 43k points |
| Hawaii - Japan | ANA first class | 57,500 Virgin points | 42k points |
| U.S. West Coast - Japan | ANA first class | 72,500 Virgin points | 52k points |
| U.S. East Coast - Japan | ANA first class | 85,000 Virgin points | 61k points |
Fly to Italy in business class using Virgin points
One of Virgin Atlantic's best (and not often talked about) sweet spots is ITA Airways business class awards on routes from the U.S. to Italy for 75,000-85,000 miles. Although these rates are higher than many of their other redemptions, you can save thousands of points when using this 40% transfer bonus.
You can book one of these seats for as few as 54,000 Ultimate Rewards points, plus minimal taxes and fees. That's not a bad deal for 8-10 hours in business class!

Fly in Saudia Airlines business class using Virgin points
While Saudi Arabia might not be at the top of your list to visit, this niche sweet spot with Virgin Atlantic is great for those who are planning on traveling to the Middle East (or beyond). You can book a seat on Saudia Airlines flights between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia for 37,000 Virgin points for economy, and 100,000 points for business class, plus minimal taxes and fees.
With this new 40% transfer bonus, you would only need 72k Ultimate Rewards points for business class, and only 27k points for an economy award ticket. That is a great use of your points, especially considering these routes are nonstop from the U.S., and over 11 hours long!

Book flights to the UK on Virgin Atlantic itself
After launching dynamic pricing for its own flights, Virgin recently released a ton of ultra-low-rate award flights for multiple routes to and from the U.S. to the UK throughout 2025. So far, Flying Club has dropped rates as low as 29,000 Virgin points for its Upper Class business class from London and Manchester to multiple U.S. cities.
If you use the 40% transfer bonus, that means you can book a 9-10 hour business class flight for as low as 21,000 Ultimate Rewards points. Or book an economy award seat across the Atlantic for just 6,000 Chase points — which is just unheard of!

Virgin Atlantic Expiration Policy
Thankfully, Virgin Atlantic points do not expire! In addition to making this one of the changes when Virgin Atlantic revamped its program in 2020, the currency name of Flying Club miles was also changed to Virgin points.
The absence of a deadline means you can take advantage of this transfer bonus without worrying about your points and miles expiring. Still, we only recommend transferring points if you have a specific use in mind. After all, Virgin Atlantic has shown time and again that it won't provide notice before devaluing awards.
Boosting Your Virgin Atlantic Balance
Virgin Atlantic is one of the few carriers that is a transfer partner with almost every major points currency:

Our Take
If you book one of the Virgin Atlantic sweet spots, this promotion can be very lucrative. This is doubly true if you can use it to top up your Virgin balance after consolidating some smaller orphan point balances from other currencies. Just remember that this “early bird” transfer bonus ends on November 20, 2025. Then, you'll get a reduced 30% transfer bonus through December 5, 2025.
