The Citi ThankYou® Rewards program is expanding yet again, adding Wyndham Rewards as a brand-new transfer partner. This comes less than a month after Citi ThankYou added its first hotel transfer partner in several years.

This new transfer partnership hasn't been announced yet by either Citi or Wyndham. Instead, AwardWallet noticed that Wyndham Rewards was added to Citi's list of transfer partners on Sunday morning.

Like with Choice Privileges, the transfer rate to Wyndham Rewards depends on what type of Citi card you have. Here's all of the details of this new partnership.

Transfer Citi ThankYou® Points to Wyndham Key Details

  • ThankYou Points earned through the Citi Prestige® Card and Citi Strata Premier® Card (Rates & Fees) can now be transferred to Wyndham Rewards at a 1:1 transfer rate.
  • Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, Citi Rewards+® Card, and Citi Double Cash® Card (Rates & Fees) ThankYou® Points transfer to Wyndham at a rate of 5:4 (5 Citi ThankYou Points transfers to 4 Wyndham Rewards points)

Keep in mind that Citi ThankYou® Points can be cashed out at a rate of 1 cent per point. Thus, Citi Strata Premier and Prestige Card cardholders will want to make sure they're getting at least one cent per point from a redemption before transferring ThankYou® Points to Wyndham.

Due to the lower transfer rate, cardholders of other ThankYou® cards will need to get at least 1.25 cents per Wyndham point.

Wyndham Rewards Program Summary

Wyndham Rewards is the loyalty program for wide-ranging brands — everything from Registry Collection Hotels and Wyndham Grand to Days Inn and LaQuinta. The program covers more than 9,000 hotels across 80+ countries.

While other hotel programs have introduced dynamic pricing and peak/off-peak pricing, Wyndham Rewards kept its program quite simple. All Wyndham Rewards properties are priced at one of three “Go Free” redemption rates:

  • 7,500 points per night
  • 15,000 points per night
  • 30,000 points per night

That's right. No matter the season, demand, or whims of the loyalty program or hotel, all award nights price at the same rate. That makes Wyndham Rewards great for times when other programs might be charging a premium.

If you don't have enough points, you can redeem Wyndham points plus cash for “Go Fast” redemptions. The reduced points rates for Go Fast redemptions are:

  • 1,500 points per night
  • 3,000 points per night
  • 6,000 points per night

Wyndham Rewards Sweet Spots

Wyndham Rewards is one of the largest hotel loyalty programs in the world. That means the best use of Wyndham Rewards is going to depend on where you want to go. With that said, let's take a look at some of the great sweet spots of the Wyndham Rewards program.

If you want to head to Hawaii, you can book a stay at the Ramada Plaza right on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu for just 15,000 points per night:

Or, splurge for an all-inclusive Viva Resort in the Dominican Republic for just 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night:

Other Sources of Wyndham Rewards Points

With the addition of Citi ThankYou® Points, Wyndham Rewards now has two bank transfer partners. Wyndham Rewards joined as a Capital One Rewards partner in February 2020 at a 4:3 transfer rate. Then, in April 2021, Capital One and Wyndham improved the transfer rate to 1:1.

Wyndham Rewards also has a transfer partnership with Caesar Rewards. Members can transfer points either way between the programs at a 1:1 transfer rate. There's a transfer limit of 30,000 points per calendar year.

Bottom Line

For years, Citi ThankYou® Rewards only had airline transfer partners. Now, in under a month, Citi has added a pair of hotel partners: Choice Privileges and now Wyndham Rewards.

Unfortunately, Wyndham Rewards wasn't also added as a 1:2 transfer partner — like Choice. However, it's great to now have another source of Wyndham Rewards points for when Wyndham's flat-redemption-rate program makes the most sense for your travels.

If only they offered a 1:2 transfer ratio to Wyndham. This would be extremely valuable.

  • GD says:

I think Citi TY points make you jump through more hoops to redeem than most other programs.

  • Ernesto says:

Definitely Citi is my favourite Hotel Award currency, it has a lot of partners

  • Matt says:

Wow, regardless of the low transfer bonus, Citi has really stepped up their game. Not just on the hotel partner side, but also the airline side. They have come such a long way since they first introduced ThankYou Rewards.

  • KareK says:

Good news. I like that Citi is upping it’s game but AA is the one I really want them to talk about. If I can transfer to AA then I would get their card. I haven’t heard anything yet but hope they are looking if it was a feasible plan from the temp promo they had.

    Sweet!!

Love it when more partners join the program, and specifically Wyndam to this program.
    Works for me!

  • TDang says:

I have both Citi double cash and Citi Premier. Will I get 1:1 transfer for points earned with the double cash? Maybe convert double cash points to Citi Thank you points before transferring will work?

    • Ryan Smith says:

Yes, in order to transfer what you earn from Double Cash to any partners, you first must convert the cash rewards into points. We actually have a step-by-step “how to” guide on this coming soon! Your transfers will be 1:1, since you have the Premier.
