Avianca LifeMiles has long been one of our favorite loyalty currencies. Earning and collecting LifeMiles through flights and credit card spending has always been a viable option. But over the last few months, we've also seen ways to earn bonus miles through LifeMiles Hotels — a portal in connection with Booking.com that allows you to book, earn, and spend LifeMiles on hotel stays.
Now, for the first time, we are seeing a third way in which you can earn LifeMiles: LifeMiles Cars, which is a rental car portal.
While the LifeMiles Cars portal has always been available for renting a car, this is the first time we've seen a promotion tied to it. From now until April 15, 2024, LifeMiles members can earn up to 14,000 bonus LifeMiles for each day they rent a car rental through the LifeMiles Cars portal. Plus, earn an extra 500 LifeMiles for a limited time through the same portal.
With more than 150,000 unique pickup locations worldwide, LifeMiles has an extensive network of places where you can rent a car while on your next holiday. But does it make sense? Let's dive into a few of the details of this promotion to see if this promotion is worth it.
Key LifeMiles Cars Promotion Terms
- This promotion is valid for reservations made by April 15, 2024.
- Car rentals must be completed before July 31, 2024.
- Members can earn a maximum of 969,700 LifeMiles during this promotion.
- LifeMiles Cars reserves the right to withdraw bonus miles at any time if technical errors or fraud are detected.
- If the car reservation is partially or completely canceled, the bonus miles will not be credited.
- Members have 12 months from the reservation date to request retroactive miles for cases where they were not claimed at the time of reservation.
- Bonus miles will be accrued in a member's account within 2–4 weeks after the rental car pick-up day at the rental car has been completed.
- If all promotion conditions are met, and members qualify for the bonus, they will receive two separate accruals on their account statement:
- Base miles awarded for car rentals made through the portal
- The 500 bonus miles
Examples of Using the LifeMiles Cars Portal
Since this might be the first time you've been made aware of the LifeMiles Cars portal, I figured it might be a good idea to quickly show what the portal looks like and how to make sure you're receiving your bonus LifeMiles with your reservation.
Once you head over to the portal, you'll see it looks awfully similar to the LifeMiles Hotels portal. It's here you can put in your destination for where you'd like to rent your car and the dates you plan on going.
Once you've selected your destination and dates, you'll be taken to a screen that shows you the choices for cars, the total cash price, as well as the total number of bonus LifeMiles you'll accrue. For this example, I chose one of the two main airports in London for the pickup and dropoff points:
It's all quite straightforward, as the price for the car is relative to the amount of bonus LifeMiles you'll be awarded. It shows the total amount you'll collect between the car and the extra 500 bonus LifeMiles.
Bottom Line
Any time a new opportunity to earn LifeMiles pops up, we feel it's always worth consideration. Between booking flights, hotels, or cars, LifeMiles allows you to take an entire holiday booked exclusively through one of the three different LifeMiles portals. This promotion allows you to earn up to 14,000 LifeMiles per day (per rental) plus an additional 500 bonus miles by using the LifeMiles Cars portal.
