Update: These changes have gone into effect. You should now select a different merchant for the credits.
One of the keys to extracting value from The Platinum Card® from American Express is using its benefits each year. Among those benefits is up to $240 in annual digital entertainment credits — often referred to as streaming credits. However, my favorite use of this is going away, as SiriusXM will no longer be a qualifying merchant.
Here's what you should know.
Changes to Amex Platinum Digital Entertainment Credit
Each year, you can get up to $20 in monthly credits (for a total of $240 annually) when using your Amex Platinum with approved merchants for digital entertainment spending. Note the “approved” language, as not all streaming services or online radio platforms qualify for the credits, and you need to enroll your card for this benefit before it kicks in.
Unfortunately, I was surprised to find this notice on my recent card statement:
Update to the Digital Entertainment Credit Benefit
We are updating the partners participating in the $240 Digital Entertainment Credit benefit for which eligible purchases made by Basic and Additional Card Members on the Account can earn up to $20 in statement credits per month, for a total of up to $240 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the Account.
Effective May 8, 2024, SiriusXM will be removed from the benefit and purchases at SiriusXM on or after May 8, will no longer be eligible for the benefit.
Enrollment is required to receive the benefit. Please note, enrollment may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card. All eligible purchases made directly with participating partners at www.disneyplus.com, plus.espn.com, www.hulu.com, www.nytimes.com/subscription, www.peacocktv.com, and www.wsj.com/amex are eligible for statement credits. Additional terms apply; see americanexpress.com/platinum for further details.
Thus, SiriusXM will no longer be an eligible merchant on May 8, 2024. That will leave just Peacock, The New York Times, Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+, and The Wall Street Journal for using your monthly credits.

Bottom Line
We reached out to American Express (via email) to find out what, if anything, would replace SiriusXM among the qualifying merchants for the Amex Platinum digital entertainment credit. At the time this story originally published, we hadn't received a response. However, a spokesperson for American Express has confirmed that nothing is replacing SiriusXM on this list; we're merely losing an option.
This is a bummer for me, as I enjoy using SiriusXM to listen to music while working and traveling. As of May 8, I'll have to figure out a different use of these monthly credits.
