How Good Is This British Airways Award Discount?
If you're willing to fly long-haul in economy, there’s some excellent value to be found. Take the popular route between London and New York JFK, for example.
We found plenty of award space in October 2025, with one-way economy flights pricing at just 15,000 Avios plus £50 (about $63) in taxes and fees.

Going the other way, we found flights from London to New York in January 2026 during the promotion window, also pricing at 15,000 Avios plus £50 (about $63) in taxes and fees.
Heading much further afield, economy awards from Cape Town to London are available for 30,000 Avios plus £63.07 (about $85) in taxes and fees.

Looking at short-haul options, there’s excellent value to be found on intra-European routes with this promotion. For example, flying from London to Rome in economy on October 1, 2025, costs just 11,750 Avios plus £0.50 (about $0.67) in taxes and fees.

Club Europe business class awards on the same flight also offer great value, pricing at 20,000 Avios plus £12.50 (about $16.75) in taxes and fees.

Long-haul business class awards are ineligible for the discount
Over the years, British Airways has become known for giving with one hand and taking away with the other, and this promotion is no exception. While it offers pretty decent value on short-haul and long-haul economy awards, BA has conveniently excluded Club World long-haul business class from the deal.
Including even a handful of long-haul premium cabin seats could have generated more buzz and goodwill, especially after the rather drastic changes to the Executive Club that debuted earlier this year.
Top Off Your Avios Balance With Credit Card Point Transfers
Short the Avios to make a booking? It’s pretty easy to top off your account if you have transferable credit card points. Here are the programs that transfer directly to British Airways:
And remember, if you have Avios in other frequent flyer accounts like Qatar Airways Privilege Club or Finnair Plus, you can transfer them to British Airways. This makes it easy to pool your Avios in one place for a redemption.

Our Take
The bottom line is that this promotion is a great opportunity to save a significant amount of Avios if you are willing to fly in economy. The main catch is the short booking window, which closes on July 23, 2025. If you already have a good sense of your travel plans over the next few months, it should be easy to figure out if this deal makes sense for you.
