Air Europa is a Spanish airline and a full SkyTeam alliance member. However, it's one of the smaller European airlines. The airline operates predominantly intra-Europe routes from bases in Madrid and Mallorca. However, It also has several routes to the Americas and Asia.

The Air Europa loyalty program uses SUMA miles as its main currency. Like many other mileage currencies, Air Europa miles expire if there's no activity on your account for some time.

Do Air Europa Miles Expire?

Your Air Europa SUMA miles will expire if you do not have qualifying activity on your account for 24 months. Per the Air Europa FAQ page:

“SUMA Miles only expire when the customer's account has been inactive for a period of 24 consecutive months. This is understood as when the Air Europa SUMA customer has not registered any transaction, either because he/she has not earned Miles for the purchase of a flight or product from our partners, or because he/she has not used the Miles.”

“The date to take into account to count the beginning of the 24-month expiration period is reflected in your account and can be accessed in the My Miles section.”

Keeping Your Air Europa Miles from Expiring

Almost any transaction earning or redeeming SUMA miles will count towards extending the validity of your balance. All of the following will keep your SUMA miles balance active.

Our Take

Despite being one of the smaller airlines in Europe, the airline is still a member of SkyTeam. So, it is relatively easy to keep your SUMA miles active since all you have to do is take a SkyTeam partner flight at least once every 24 months.
