Who doesn't love a good birthday celebration? Better yet, who doesn't love bonus perks from airlines just because it's your birthday? It comes every year, so we might as well take advantage of all the birthday freebies that can come with it.
Let's look at some of the free birthday stuff you can get from different airlines.
AirBaltic
AirBaltic is a regional airline based in Latvia, flying to 70+ locations between the Baltics, Europe, and the Middle East. With its 22 partners, you can reach 300 additional destinations.
For your birthday, receive a 50% discount on airBaltic award flights listed in the airBaltic Rewards Shop. You can fly at any time, but the discount applies only when you book the flight on your birthday.
Air Canada Aeroplan
Air Canada's Aeroplan offers birthday emails with five different awards to choose from. This email promo seems to be targeted to certain customers, but you should be included if your birthday is listed in your Aeroplan account.
You can sign up for a free Aeroplan account here, and the five options include:
- 25% off base fares for flights, plus preferred seating.
- 5x on your next ride with Uber.
- 10% off Air Canada vacation packages.
- 500 Aeroplan points when you spend $50 in the Aeroplan eStore.
- 100 Aeroplan points.
You need to choose within one month of receiving the email. If you choose the first birthday perk, you must travel on Air Canada (not a partner airline) within six months of booking. It's worth mentioning that the preferred seating in this perk extends to five travel companions, subject to availability.
Avianca LifeMiles
Avianca is another airline that sends out emails with birthday freebies. In this case, it's a straightforward perk of bonus LifeMiles when you book a flight. You will earn 500 bonus miles for domestic flights and 1,000 miles for international flights. To get this perk, enter the promo code from your birthday email when it's time to pay.
Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus
There are two different birthday freebies available from Bangkok Airways. First, you can receive up to 3,250 bonus points when accumulating points from Bangkok Airways and partners.
This chart provided by Bankok Airways shows the breakdown of how to earn bonus points.
Second, you can earn up to 28,000 additional FlyerBonus Points when you accumulate points across all five categories listed above during your birth month.
To earn either of these bonuses, you'll need to register for a FlyerBonus account and register for the birthday promo. It's important to note that only paid flights qualify for the birthday bonus points.
China Airlines
It's not much, but China Airlines Dynasty members can receive a 5% discount when booking a China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines flight the month before their birthday. The discount goes up to 10% on regional business class flights within Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Guam, Palau, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. The discount applies to your ticket and any travel companions.
You must purchase your tickets through the designated birthday discount link to receive the discount.
Additionally, Paragon, Emerald, and Gold card members who take eligible flights during their birthday month will earn 2,000 bonus miles.

- Only paid flights qualify.
- The amount of miles you earn depends on your membership tier:

Final Thoughts
Even if an airline doesn't offer birthday freebies when booking, it's worth notifying a crew member if you're flying on your birthday. Airlines have been known to hand out special treats or perks to people who are celebrating.
In addition to the birthday freebies available now, other airlines have previously offered benefits. Both British Airways and Delta had temporary birthday bonuses over the past few years, so it's worth signing up for free loyalty accounts with airlines you may fly. You never know what you might get!
