American Airlines is offering some very tempting Web Specials right now, especially for travelers originating in small regional airports: 84,000 miles round trip in business class to Europe! The same flights can be booked for just 34,000 miles round trip in economy. Usually, we see Web Specials for flights in economy class and within the United States, although there have been exceptions to that in the past.
Key Details
- Use 84,000 miles for round-trip business class travel from regional airports in the U.S. to European destinations.
- Use 34,000 miles for round-trip economy class travel from regional airports in the U.S. to European destinations.
- Available travel dates vary by origin and destination.
- These flights are Web Specials, meaning they cannot be changed once booked.
How To Book
For those like me who try to avoid the new American Airlines award booking interface at all costs, you won’t see these business class deals. Business class Web Specials will only show up in the newer booking engine. I highlight an example below from Wilmington, NC (ILM) to Paris, France (CDG).
Searching flights in January using the new interface, a small number of dates show business class award availability at the Web Special rate of 42,000 one way. Note that in this case I end up selecting January 10 as my departure date, which does not show 42,000 miles for business class. There is a reason I dislike the new American Airlines award booking interface! However, trying to use the old booking engine, these results do not appear.
Is American incentivizing travelers to use the new award booking tool instead of the old by making Web Specials like these available? I doubt that is the case, although it certainly makes me change my mind about avoiding the new tool at all costs.
Our Take
This is an amazing opportunity for travelers starting out at smaller, regional U.S. airports to fly to Europe – and in style! What I like in particular about this deal is that business class and economy class awards can be combined. For just 59,000 miles, you can fly business class on the way to Europe, and fly home in economy. That way, you can help beat the jet lag with a lie-flat seat overnight, and return home in economy in the daytime to save 25,000 miles.

It happens that when you are looking for a good rate with miles, there are usually many miles they require and it is not always as they put it on the blog.
Long shot but still trying to get them!
very limited still, I think trying to use my AAdvantage miles keeps getting harder……
I still have a long way to reach 80K miles. Keep earning!
This is a really good deal for American…thank for the tips!
My family often go to Europe….
This deal looks amazing.
I should talk about this deal with my family…
Thank you AA!!!
It sounds a pretty good deal~
I hope this promotion works same way in Asia to Europe~
I love American airlines~~~
Loving these Web Fares, I hope they continue well into the future!
I’ve not found destinations which interest me.
GOOD PROMO!!! Thanks for the tips!
Appears the calendar feature was removed but should come back in a little bit. Thats a solid rate for redemption- but the multitude of connections is insane sometimes.
Some good deals there, as previous comments states taxes are considerably high from Europe (UK traveller here). Sometimes more value in purchasing a coach ticket and gaining more miles.
Thanks, this is a really good rate for AA
Can’t argue with 59k, shame we get stung with ridiculous taxes going the opposite way from Europe!
Good Promo!!! great Deal
Thanks for the tips!
Need a deal like this for Ireland in 2021, first trip out of the states!
Looks like they are offering similar awards to Japan in business now.
I usually have great luck finding AA award travel over most other airlines, They do try to move you to British Airways in Europe and then you have to pay the high fuel surcharges and taxes, but its still has been good to me.
I love that they are having promos, however, this makes it harder to have enough miles for a trip. I get why they changed it but frustrating for the customer. I’ve just got find a way to work with it.
I’m hoping that maybe they’ll have it where you can use so many miles and then pay the rest. Or maybe they have it already and I’ve missed it? I don’t believe they do though.
i guess after Lucky review of first class, nobody want to fly AA
Does United ever do promotions? I live in a United hub. 🙁
Are you saying regional airports are typically more costly than this or that if you’re flying from a regional, you might as well connect?
Well, the deal is really nice, thanks for the information. I just think that they should be more flexible.
Sounds like a good promotion to me. I just don’t have enough points yet unfortunately.
Good promo and advise on 59k RT option
I like your idea of business over when it matters and economy home. Good thinking.
Muy buena info para tener en cuenta. Gracias
Can these be booked as one way awards for 42k?
Great choice, today it’s really hard to get a business class for 80k miles. Love travelling with AA. Thanks for the post, always useful!
Who has taken advantage of this offer?
Good deal! I wish I had this amount of points though…
Is there a list of cities where this applies?
Nice to be able to use AA miles for a decent redemption rate on their own craft.
You can still get to the old award calendar view interface if you start at the right place on the website.
I am awaiting sales for spring/summer to Europe.
It seems like a good deal but I hate the inflexible terms.
I’m very new to the travel rewards/points earning thing. Is 84K a good deal? Within what range do the redemptions usually fall?
Thanks, I hadn’t heard that we cannot find these specials using the old search engine. That’s unfortunate, but good to know.
Is there an easy to browse list of these regional airports?
I would be willing to drive from Toronto to Buffalo, NY for this kind of deal!
Is there a list of airports with the special rates by any chance?
When was the new award booking interface introduced?
I wonder if it’s the same price from EU to USA as well by AA miles
I suppose this deal should work also for Europeans, for flights from Europe
to the States and back, as you buy each direction seperately.
42k one way in business is well worth doing, it is far superior to coach. Thanks for the info
Really amazing AA promotion. Availability only in the new award booking interface was, to some extent, expected. Thanks.
The new AA award app seems… busted? I’ll look for an award on the calendar, but when I go to select my flight it shows up at a much higher mileage!
I’ll certainly be checking this out. I might even do the business one way and coach the way back. I wouldn’t sleep on the day flight home so why not save points for another trip?
Is there a list for the originating airports?
I find the new website difficult to use, but it’s worth it for these types of deals
Woouu but only from Usa? Will there be from South America?
84000 in business for a round trip to Europe is a great deal!
It definitely is. The unfortunate downside, however, of these Web Special awards is the dynamic pricing system that they’re based on. Meaning, that there are many similar award itineraries that are pricing much higher than “normal” AAnytime awards.
Thomas, do you mean to suggest that as the Web Specials go down on discount other similar award itineraries go up to compensate?
waiting for good offers for Spring 2020
Seems like a good rate, but that’s an awful lot of points to burn on one seat!
That’s true but it’s an amazing deal!
It’s hard. Experiences can be priceless but that’s a lot of economy round trips that directly save me money for my family.
