  • Marriott Bonvoy prices award nights dynamically, so it can be hard to redeem your points for fair value.

Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card Benefits

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card offers some solid benefits that make it comparable to other mid-tier hotel credit cards it competes against.

Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status

You will automatically receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status just by holding the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card. Gold Elite status provides 2 p.m. late checkout, enhanced room upgrades, and 25% additional points per stay.

This is a step above Silver Elite in the Marriott elite status tiers and below the Platinum Elite status that is offered by the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card‘s premium counterpart, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card.

While 2 p.m. is not the latest checkout time you can get (you can get 4 p.m. checkout by being a Platinum Elite member or higher), the 2 p.m. checkout offered as a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member and Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card holder is still better than the late guaranteed checkout times you can receive at other hotel programs like Hilton and IHG.

1,000 bonus points per stay

For each paid stay booked through Marriott, you will get an extra 1,000 bonus points by holding this card. These points will add up quickly if you stay frequently at Marriott properties, whether a Fairfield Inn or Ritz-Carlton.

15 Elite Night Credits annually

Cardholders receive 15 Elite Night Credits per year, deposited automatically to help you achieve higher levels of status. These Elite Night Credits also count toward obtaining Marriott Bonvoy lifetime status. However, if you also hold another Marriott personal credit card, you will not earn Elite Night Credits from both.

Keep in mind, however, that you can receive these credits from holding both a personal and small business Marriott credit card each year. In addition, you can receive 25 Elite Night Credits per year instead of 15 by holding the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card instead of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card.

Free Night Award earned through spending

For each year you spend at least $15,000 on the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card, you will get a free night certificate that can be used for one night (worth up to 50,000 points) at a Marriott Bonvoy property. Although this is a high amount of money to spend, there are a bunch of sweet spots for redeeming Marriott free nights.

Unlike other Marriott cards, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card only gives a free night award based on spending, unlike other cards that provide a free night in your account automatically on your account anniversary.

Free premium Wi-Fi

While Marriott hotels have free standard internet, you typically have to pay for premium internet. Holding the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card, however, will get you faster Wi-Fi speeds for free.

If you work from Marriott hotels during your vacation stays or want to stream your favorite TV show after a long day of vacation, being able to access Marriott's fastest WiFi package for free is an excellent perk of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card.

Travel and purchase protection benefits

Outside of the flashier headline benefits, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card also has plenty of under-the-hood travel and purchase protection benefits, including:

  • No foreign transaction fees (Rates & Fees).
  • Car rental loss and damage insurance.
  • Access to the Global Assist Hotline.
  • Trip Delay Insurance.
  • Baggage Insurance Plan.

For policy particulars, please refer to your card's guide to benefits — as the terms and conditions can vary depending on where you reside.

Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card Earning Rates

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card earns points at the following rates:

  • 6X points on purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy
  • 4X points on up to $15,000 in combined purchases per year at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets
  • 2X points on all other eligible purchases

The earning rate at Marriott Bonvoy properties goes even further. On top of the 6X earned with this card, you can earn up to 10X at most Marriott Bonvoy brands, plus a 25% bonus for Gold Elite status (provided by this card). That means 12.5X from your stay and another 6X from this card — an 18.5X earning rate at Marriott properties. That's quite an excellent perk from just a mid-tier credit card.

Redeeming Points With the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card

The Marriott Bonvoy program uses dynamic pricing, meaning how many points you'll need for a hotel stay will vary based on the cash cost at the hotel as well as the travel period. Is it a Tuesday during the middle of winter in Bismarck, North Dakota? You'll likely need fewer points. Is it a Saturday in the summer and you want to stay in Athens before embarking on a Mediterranean cruise? Expect to cough up more points.

Aim to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points above the average of 0.94¢ per point that AwardWallet users have gotten in recent redemptions. To find this number, divide the cash cost of the room by the number of points required. That can help you decide if you want to redeem points or not.

When you're on Marriott.com (or the mobile app), make sure you check the option “Use Points/Awards” to use your points. Input your destination and dates as you normally would.

Application Restrictions

Marriott cards have a myriad of application restrictions — not just from American Express but from Marriott as well. And the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card is no exception.

Amex ‘once per lifetime' and family language

In addition to American Express' “once per lifetime” language, American Express has recently also added “family” language that prevents you from getting the welcome bonus if you currently have — or previously carried — the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card.

“You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card or previous versions of these Cards.”

The fact that both American Express and Chase issue Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards makes “family” language significantly more complicated. Depending on which Marriott cards you have and which you've had in the past, there's a complex set of rules to navigate before you know if you are eligible for a welcome bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card. Luckily, we've sorted them out for you.

General Amex rules

On top of those rules, American Express won't allow you to have more than five of its credit cards at once. Additionally, you can't be approved for more than two Amex cards in a 90-day period. Luckily, a pop-up message will alert you if you're not eligible for the bonus, and you can decide whether to finish submitting your application from there.

Final Thoughts

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card regularly boasts a solid welcome bonus. In addition, the benefits you receive from the complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status will significantly power your hotel stays with late checkouts and more points.

However, the card does not offer a free night award each year you hold the card, which is disappointing when its sister credit cards offer free night awards — even one with a much lower annual fee. If you want a free hotel stay each year, we recommend looking at other credit cards in the Marriott portfolio.

However, if you want automatic elite status with no effort to add perks to your Marriott stays, and you don't stay frequently enough to get Gold Elite status in another way, this card could be a good option.
