Delta just announced a new way for SkyMiles members to earn Medallion Qualifying Dollars for Black Friday in 2023. Through November 30, 2023, all purchases made at Delta's new Window Seat Shop will earn 1 MQD per dollar for 2025 medallion qualification. Here are the details of this promotion.
What Is Delta's Window Seat Shop?
The Window Seat Shop is a new store in Terminal 4 of JFK where Delta SkyMiles members can purchase unique items from around the world. Each item is curated from small businesses in destinations served by Delta Air Lines. Here are some examples:
- Skateboard decks from WAFFLESNCREAM, Nigeria’s first skateboarding company aiming to support young Africans interested in extreme sports and skate culture.
- Quirky, cult-favorite, real-bread lamps from Japanese artisan Yukiko Morita.
- Hand-crafted pottery from Brazilian gallery Elysian Collective.
- Natural, organic skincare from CHILL Cape Town, inspired by the botanicals of South Africa and the African continent.
The items seem to be in high demand. At the time of this writing, several products of the shop are sold out. Unique experiences are also available through the shop, such as playing on the court at Madison Square Gardens before a New York Knicks game or flying a private hot air balloon over the southwestern U.S.
SkyMiles can purchase directly in the store, or online at delta.com/windowseatshop.
Earn 1 MQD per Dollar for 2025 Medallion Qualifications at the Delta Window Seat Shop
It's already time to start thinking of your 2025 Delta Medallion status. For the past two years, Delta has increased the medallion qualifying dollar (MQD) requirements for earning status. Thankfully, Delta backpedaled slightly on the 2024 Medallion requirements. The following table shows the required MQDs for each status:
Status Tier | MQD Requirement for Status Earned in 2023 | Originally-Announced MQD Requirement for Status Earned in 2024 | Adjusted MQD Requirement for Status Earned in 2024 |
---|---|---|---|
Silver Medallion | 3,000 (no increase from 2022) | 6,000 (+100% from 2023) | 5,000 (+67% from 2023) |
Gold Medallion | 8,000 (+33.3% from 2022) | 12,000 (+50% from 2023) | 10,000 (+25% from 2023) |
Platinum Medallion | 12,000 (+33.3% from 2022) | 18,000 (+50% from 2023) | 15,000 (+25% from 2023) |
Diamond Medallion | 20,000 (+33.3% from 2022) | 35,000 (+75% from 2023) | 28,000 (+40% from 2023) |
This promotion for Black Friday 2023 is a bit strange, as it helps you achieve your 2025 medallion status, not 2024. Through November 30, 2023, every dollar spent in Delta's new Window Seat Shop will earn 1 MQD. All MQDs earned with this offer will be deposited into your Delta account after January 1, 2024, specifically so they count toward your 2025 medallion status. There is no limit to how many MQDs SkyMiles members can earn with this promotion.
Members can make purchases at Delta's Window Seat Shop in Terminal 4 of the JFK Airport or online.
Key terms
- Purchase at Delta's new Window Seat Shop.
- Earn 1 MQD for every dollar spent.
- Taxes, shipping, and handling will not earn MQDs.
- MQDs will be deposited into SkyMiles member accounts on or after January 1, 2024, counting toward 2025 Medallion status.

Our Take
This is an interesting way to help SkyMiles members boost their 2025 Medallion status. Delta's new Window Seat Shop seems to have some really interesting and fun products from around the world. If you're not going to pass through JFK before November 30, 2023, you can always purchase through the online shop.
Will you make a purchase in the Windows Seat Shop to boost your 2025 Medallion status?
