Capital One has expanded its Capital One Offers option, providing more ways for cardholders to earn bonus rewards on their spending. While the selections were initially slim and only offered cash back, Capital One has upped its game, adding more retailers to its lineup and the ability to earn bonus transferable miles.
So, what are Capital One Offers, how do you use them, and should you even care? Here's everything you should know.

What are Capital One Offers?
Capital One Offers allow you to earn miles or cash back on eligible purchases and are only available to Capital One cardholders or bank account customers.
Capital One Offers is similar to other bank rewards shopping programs in that you can earn cash back or miles when shopping. However, that's where the similarities end. Unlike Amex Offers, Chase Offers, and Citi Merchant Offers, Capital One Offers is essentially a shopping portal.
This means that when you shop at a store via the Capital One Offers page, you earn cash back or miles for your purchase, thanks to a reciprocal agreement the store has with the referring company. In this case, that's Capital One.
Below are some additional key points to know about Capital One Offers.
- No enrollment is required.
- You must be logged into your Capital One account and use the provided link to receive credit for purchases.
- Make sure to disable popup blockers so the website can track your purchase.
- Offers are mostly for online stores, however, in-store offers are being added with increasing frequency.
- Both in-store and online offers are targeted and subject to change at any time.
- Offer payouts usually occur within 45 days of purchase, but occasionally may take longer.
How To Use Capital One Offers
All you need to do to utilize Capital One Offers is log in to your Capital One account. On your dashboard, offers are listed at the bottom of your screen near or below your CreditWise summary. As the photo below shows, it will say “Shopping offers” with a link that reads “View all offers” on the bottom.

Once you click on “View all offers,” you'll be taken to a page that shows you some of the hundreds of stores available.
If you have multiple Capital One cards or bank accounts, you can use the drop-down box in the upper-left corner to change which card or account your offers will apply. Miles-earning cards will see offers to earn bonus miles, while cashback cards and bank accounts will see offers for cash back.
Scroll down to peruse the stores or, if you have a specific store in mind, you can type it in the search box. You can also filter the search results by categories, in-store, new offers, apparel, travel & entertainment, home, and general retail. The screenshot below shows you what to expect from the Capital One Offers page. Unfortunately, there is no way to sort the offers from highest to lowest earning rate.

If the merchant is unavailable, Capital One will not show any results.
Online vs. In-Store Offers
Online offers
For online shopping, once you select your retailer (Lululemon in this example), you'll see a pop-up that shows more specifics on what purchases will earn rewards, plus any exclusions and the offer terms.
Select “Shop Online” once you have confirmed your eligibility.

Now, you are ready to go. Just make sure you complete the entire transaction through the link that will open a new screen. If you accidentally close the link, go back to the offer page where you'll find the link again. It's imperative that you complete your purchase(s) through the link from Capital One Offers. If you open a new page and make your purchase through that, you will not be eligible for miles or cash back. That's because the alternate page does not include a tracking link.
To see if your purchase tracked correctly, click the drop-down in the upper-right corner and select “Shopping Trips.” There you will see the status of all of your shopping trips, both in-store and online.
In-store offers
Card-linked in-store offers are a recent addition and are limited in quantity, but will hopefully continue to expand. You'll need to activate the in-store offer to use it, and currently only up to three offers can be activated at a time. When you click the tile for the store name, again you'll see a pop-up that shows more specifics on what purchases will earn rewards, plus the expiration date, exclusions, and the offer terms. If you link the offer and do not use it before the expiration date, you may be able to relink it if that merchant is still available.
For offers that are both online and in-store, you'll click “Activate In-Store and Shop Online” to add the offer to your card. The store's website will open in a new window, but you can just exit the page if your intention is to use the offer in-person.

For in-store only offers, you'll click “Activate Offer.”

Both in-store and online offers are targeted and subject to change at any time. This means your offers may be different than offers your friends or family members have on their Capital One accounts.

When it comes to shopping online through Capital One Offers, the FAQ page on Capital One's website specifically mentions that you do not have to use your Capital One card as payment for the purchase. However, since the in-store offers are linked to your specific Capital One card, you will need to pay with that card.

Stacking Capital One Offers
If you're wondering whether you can stack Capital One Offers, the answer is “it depends.”
Online offers cannot be stacked with other airline or cash back shopping portals, such as Rakuten or AAdvantage eShopping. But you can use a card that has an Amex Offer, Chase Offer, or Citi Merchant Offer linked to it. And you may also use a card that has a SimplyMiles offer linked to it.
For a real-world example, let's say you plan to make an online purchase from CVS, clicking through Capital One Offers. You have a Chase Offer for 10% back up to $5 at CVS, which you've linked to your Chase Freedom Flex℠. Your SimplyMiles account also has an offer for CVS, offering 1 AAdvantage mile and 1 Loyalty Point per dollar spent. Since your Freedom Flex is a Mastercard, it can be used with SimplyMiles. So for your online purchase at CVS, you'll earn Capital One miles and AA miles and Loyalty Points. Plus, you'll earn Chase Ultimate Rewards and up to $5 cash back from the Chase Offer.
How to stack in-store offers
Since you need to use the Capital One card linked to the account for in-store offers, stacking works a bit differently, but it is still possible. You won't be able to use an Amex Offer, Chase Offer, or Citi Merchant Offer since those are card-linked offers. If your Capital One card is a Mastercard, you can link it to SimplyMiles and if there is an overlapping offer, you'll get Capital One miles, plus AA miles and Loyalty Points.
Rakuten also has card-linked in-store offers, which, in our experience, can stack with Capital One Offers. You'll just need to link your Capital One card to Rakuten and add the in-store offer before you make a purchase.
No matter which portal or offer you're using, you should read through the terms and conditions to ensure that using any coupons you might have won't void your cash back.
Finally, always make sure to check out Cashback Monitor and compare rates before committing to the Capital One Offers page. Shopping portals are constantly changing their rates, so make sure you are getting the best return.
Capital One Offers vs. Capital One Shopping
This is where things can get a little confusing. In addition to Capital One Offers, there is Capital One Shopping, which is available to everyone — even those without a Capital One credit card. This shopping portal is similar to Rakuten.
Instead of cash back or miles, you'll earn Capital One Shopping Credits, which can be redeemed for a variety of gift cards.

Additionally, you can download the free browser extension to automatically apply coupons to your eligible purchases.
With Capital One Shopping, anyone can utilize its features. It's public. Capital One Offers are only available to those who have Capital One credit cards or bank accounts.
Final Thoughts
If you have an eligible Capital One card and need to make an online or in-store purchase, make sure to check out Capital One Offers beforehand. More and more retailers are being added all the time, so it's worth checking out the available offers. Don't leave money on the table by ignoring cash back or bonus miles from your shopping.
