Citi just announced elevated earnings on the Citi® Double Cash Card, offering 5% cash back on certain travel bookings through December 31, 2024. That's an extra 3% cash back on top of the card's normal earnings.
The Citi Double Cash has a simple earning structure: Earn 2% on every purchase with unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases.
However, through December 31, 2024, cardholders will earn 5% cash back on hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked in the Citi Travel portal. Unfortunately, these elevated rates don't apply to flight reservations.
Citi's new portal — officially “Citi Travel with Booking.com” — launched back in March. As the name implies, the site is powered by Booking.com, and it includes flights, car rentals, hotels, and even attractions, such as tours and event tickets. You can log in here to start searching for travel.
When the portal launched, Citi announced bonus earning rates on several cards. Through June 30, 2024, the following cards have elevated earning rates on hotels, car rentals, and attractions in the portal:
- Citi Prestige® Card and Citi Premier® Card: 10 points per $1 spent.
- Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card and Citi Rewards+® Card: 5 points per $1 spent.
And since the cash back on the Citi Double Cash actually comes in the form of ThankYou Points, this offer matches the earning rates some other cards offer in Citi's portal — at least temporarily.

You can redeem your earnings on the Citi Double Cash as a statement credit, direct deposit to your bank account, shop with points at Amazon, gift cards, or even a check in the mail. You also can redeem your points with a few of Citi's transfer partners for award travel. However, the number of options and the transfer rates both improve if you also hold either the Prestige Card or Citi Premier.

Bottom Line
Increased earning rates are always good news. Through the end of 2024, Citi Double Cash cardholders can earn 5% back on travel booked in Citi's portal (except for flights). The elevated earning rates make this one of the best no-annual-fee cards for travel bookings until December 31, 2024.
