Avis is offering a one-day rental for $30 and a paid upgrade to President's Club (their invite-only elite status) for $750 with this year's Daily Getaways Promotion. The promotion starts on May 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. ET. As with all Daily Getaways promotions, the limited packages will likely sell out quickly. We're publishing this one a few hours early, so set an alarm if you want to jump on the one-day rental certificate.
Key Terms
$30 One-Day Car Rental
- Purchase a one-day car rental for $30.
- There are 500 packages available for this deal.
- You must use your day’s rental by June 15, 2020.
- You can redeem your days’ rental for all classes of car up to premium (G). Specialty classes such as H, F, W, Z, L, V, P, K, X, and S are excluded.
- Rental certificates are valid in the US (excluding the NY Metropolitan area) Puerto Rico, Canada, and the US Virgin Islands.
- You can purchase up to seven one-day rental certificates.
- A maximum of seven certificates can be applied to a single rental.
- 24-hour advance reservation is required.
If you can see yourself renting a car from Avis in the next year, then the one-day rental certificate is a sweet deal. Since you can buy seven certificates and use them all on the same rental, the offer will get you a car for a full week for $210. Groups A–G include cars only, so if you typically rent an SUV, this deal won't be helpful. Mid-tier Avis Preferred Plus members do get a single-class upgrade when available, so it's possible you could reserve a class G car and end up with an intermediate SUV, but the benefit isn't guaranteed.
Presidents Club Membership Offer
- Purchase Presidents Club Membership for $750
- There are only 20 packages available for purchase.
- Membership is valid through June 15, 2020.
- You will receive Presidents Club Membership benefits at participating locations in the US and Canada.
- Membership is only open to US residents who are over 25 years of age.
President’s Club Membership is an invitation-only elite status, and Avis doesn’t publish the requirements. To us, $750 doesn’t seem like a great deal for most people. If you’re hiring enough cards to justify the $750 fee, you probably earn status the traditional way. Avis Preferred Plus status, which comes with a complimentary upgrade when available, can be achieved with 12 rentals or $5,000 spent in a calendar year.
Our Take
With only 500 one-day-rental certificates up for grabs and the option to purchase as many as seven in a single transaction, we wouldn't be surprised to see the first offer sell out within minutes. If it's not too late already, stop reading and go buy them.

Thanks for the info!
In my opinion Presidents club is overpriced .
I feel like some 1-day rentals are cheaper elsewhere? Same with some above comments. I think AAA does better than this.
does this stack with any other offers/discounts?
Doesn’t having a simple AAA membership offer better deals on car rentals?
Avis is good but not that good for me. I somehow always end up at Enterprise, even if I’m not trying.
I wonder though if a person had a child learning to drive should you try to rent a car? AAA recommends to have a crossover or midsize car, which I wouldn’t have. Just makes one nervous about a rental car, of course. Has anyone ever done this?
For a good offer like this an availability of only 500 is incredible low.
Very difficult to have the offer and so I haven’t lost any time trying to get one of the package.
not worth it to buy the presidents club, IMHO
The $750 off is still available. It is too pricey a frill for me.
If the 30 includes all the taxes, fees, and surcharges, it might be worthwhile but if it is for that base rental rate, this is not particularly a good deal.
I wonder if there’s value for having rental car status.
One-day rental offer is worthwhile.
This post was timed perfect for me and my travel plans. Thanks again for your efforts!
Such a great deal!!! So disappointed that I missed this.
Do that many people rent a car for just one day? … the obvious additional factor is the additional insurance cost… in any case, depending on the rental location, $30 a day is not a steal!
Yes, business travelers
agreed, $10 /day would have been a steal
This price is pretty steep for my budget with occasional use.
The one day rental for $30 seems like a great deal but the $750 President’s Club membership is laughable.
Perfect timing for me. Many, many thanks. Helps with a trip I have in a month.
Would check carefully with your own auto insurance or claims department of the credit card you use to provide collision coverage. Using a certificate may cause a claim to be rejected due to “small print” .

Taxes, concession recovery fees, vehicle license recovery fee, customer facility charges ($10/contract in CA) may apply and are the responsibility of the bearer.
I looked at 5 trips I am planning
With the free second driver renting through Costco is a better deal m all. In almost every instance taxes and fees is pretty much equal to rental . Compare total cost to total cost including all taxes and fees.
If you do not need 2nd driver than submit your contract to Auto slash but be careful dealing with Auto slash. Based on my experience most Auto slash quotes find a lower price by changing pick up or drop off locations to the point the time and cost of taking Uber to or from car rental location outweighs savings. Priceline does the same wen you get a quote through them.
I have also had car rental company change a locations hours. Had I rented directly with the car rental company they would have moved the pickup location at the same rate. Auto slash will merely refund your money and say run another quote.
Autoslash claims hey give free second driver but some rental companies do not honor it when you call car rental company they say 2nd driver is not included.

This is a great deal if you rent from Avis regularly.
