Our Take
This promotion takes a couple of seconds to register, and you are on your way to earning double points this fall. Nothing epic here, but double points for a couple of clicks sounds worth it to us.

Anyone see that Amtrak change their expiration from 3 years to 2 years without notice?
And you can’t log into your account without accepting the new terms to check…
Is there another way to collect Amtrak Points?
Is Amtrak point connected to UR?
No.
Thanks. I hadn’t heard about this promo!
Email said till December 17 which I thought no way. But in this post it say tillMov 17 aka before thanks giving.
I’m not a big fan of Amtrak. We just used their sleeper car for an overnight 12.5 hour trip. They were an hour late getting from Chicago to Indiana and two hours late getting into DC. DO NOT TAKE the train if you want to be on time. They no longer serve a hot breakfast in the dining car for sleeper cars. They just give you a box with cold food and the gal in the galley was rude about that! Less than stellar trip.
Wow, that is the exact opposite of my experience! I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
Wow didn’t realize so many people used the train. I’ve used them in the past but not lately. I just got a loyalty number with them. I hope that promos are good with them too so I can take advantage of them when I do ride the rails. I think it’d be fun to ride with my boys from nyc to was. It’s not too expensive and the train cars look comfy.
I believe that NYC to DC Eastern Seaboard corridor is their most popular, so you should be treated to the best they have to offer in terms of frequency, quality and price. But, of course, you will miss the spectacular scenery of their western routes.
Unfortunately, I’m not a user of Amtrak. But the picture in the email sent through the mailing list is great!
Goodbye SPG->Amtrak
Hope they do this again next year. Can’t do it this year!
We will be doing an Amtrak trip soon. Thanks for the info 🙂
I think there is a mistake in the dates. I believe this ends 11/17 and not 12/17
There was, fixed now. Thanks Mark.
Thanks for keeping us updated on new promos.
Just got back on Amtrak. Maybe next time. On the other hand, I took Megabus most of the way, and didn’t spend much on the Amtrak fare consequentially.
Good promo for those who are Amtrak fans.
As another comment said, I can use this for family. Thanks for the update.
Does anyone know how valuable these points are? I always use the train, but never thought about points???
I just redeemed points at about 2.9 cents each on a northeast regional trip after a flight was canceled
Good to know about this promotion. I hope to be helping to arrange some travel on Amtrak for my parents in the near future, so they may as well get more points. I seem to remember that Amtrak used to be a Chase UR transfer partner. I wish it was still that easy to earn points for train travel.
Thank you for this! My mother loves Amtrak – I did not realize I could do a “frequent flyer” type program for her. Valuable info.

Since the recent devaluation on earning points, promos like this are even more appreciated to give points-earning a little boost.
Up until a couple of years ago, it seemed like any Amtrak trip I took for less than $100 each way earned 100 points each way, before any promos.
I registered for this promotion a week ago and traveled on Amtrak two days ago, and was dissapointed to learn that the promotion hadn’t taken effect yet. However, double points on amtrak isn’t a lot of points.
