I received an interesting promo email from American Express earlier today in connection to my Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express. The terms of the promotion are the following:
- You will earn 5,000 Starpoints after you spend $5,000 in qualifying purchases using your Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express by October 15, 2016.
- You will earn additional 5,000 Starpoints after you spend another $5,000 in qualifying purchases (so $10,000 total) using your Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express by October 15, 2016.
- These points are in addition to the base earning rate on the card.
- You need to register by October 15, 2016.

I know of others that have also received this message and some cardholders that did not get the message — this promotion appears to be targeted. If you are a Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express cardholder, check your email to see if you were targeted. Alternatively, you can try to register for this promotion.
The promo email also reminds you of some of the great benefits you get by holding a Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express, including complimentary access to Sheraton Club Lounge (where available) and SPG Gold Status after spending $30,000 or more in eligible purchases on your Card in a calendar year. Perhaps they are trying to convince me to keep the card when my annual fee is due in a couple of months?
I don't recall Amex running many promotions like this in the past, so this is certainly a pleasant surprise.
