This IHG Points Purchase promotion has ended, however, you can still purchase IHG points.

IHG has been in a generous mood over the last couple of weeks. So far, they have given out a 15% discount on Points and Cash purchases. Before that, they started offering a 100% bonus on points purchases. Now IHG is offering a quick 1,000 points bonus, and this time it will cost you a penny, just some time. (Complete Terms: The Sweepstakes is only open to residents of the fifty (50) United States of America, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, who are twenty-one (21) years of age or older and members of the Panel)

How To Get 1,000 IHG Rewards for Free

This promotion works after signing-up to IHG’s new survey partner Opinion Check-in and completing an online survey. To earn the 1,000 points head over to the Opinion check-in site, enter your details and your IHG Rewards Club membership number, and complete a survey. The points will then be credited to your account.

This is an interesting opportunity for several reasons. Firstly regarding account activity — your IHG points will expire after 12 months of inactivity on your account. By completing the survey and having points credit, this counts as activity on your account and resets the 12-month clock.

The second thing that makes this an attractive proposition is that there are several surveys that you can complete, and the more you complete, the more points you will earn. Meaning that if you have some spare time to complete the surveys, you can rack up quite a few points for your time.

Lastly, if you combine this with the current IHG PointBreaks offer, there is some great value to be had. With PointsBreaks rooms at only 5,000 points, one survey would give you 20% of the points needed for a night’s stay. If you complete several then potentially you could go even further towards the cost of a stay.

Is This Worth It?

Overall this is an easy and straightforward way to pick up some free IHG points, from the comfort of your home. The length of the survey you're presented with should dictate how much effort you put in, but at a minimum, this is an easy way to extend the life of your IHG points, and the bonus points should be instantly deposited into your account. We recommend using an email address where you can filter through junk, in case they start spamming you with surveys that you're not interested in completing.

  • The Opinion Check-in survey for IHG is NOT working. I tried several times, but the following error message is shown:

“Thank you for your interest in becoming an Opinion Check-In member.

We are currently having trouble processing your request at this time. We would love to have you as a member, so please reach out to helpdesk@opinioncheckin.com for further assistance. A member of our Respondent Support team will be more than happy to assist you.

    Thank you,

I don’t know if others were able to do that.

  • Maybe worth it for the 1,000 points. After that? Not so much.

  • simon zelkowicz says:

Thank you. Very useful for keeping my account alive.

  • I had trouble signing up for this program from my ipad. I was able to enter my email address but not complete my profile because the required categories were not offered on my screen. I think this may be an iPad issue. In the meantime, I am receiving daily emails from the program with no way to log-in and follow up.

  • there are also other programs that participate with the same survey company

  • Christopher Barnett says:

This site works well! They give you varying amounts of IHG points for completing a survey, amd 5 IHG points if you do not qualify for a survey.

    Win win either way.

  • Now it will be nice if Hilton does the same thing.

  • I think the hardest part is actually finishing a survey and not randomly getting disqualified in the middle

  • I hate taking the surveys. Often you get disqualified, so you waste time trying to get through just one. And the amount of points after the initial signup points are so low, you wonder why you waste time doing these.

  • You also can grab 5 points for survey that you didn’t qualify for – so once a month you can keep your account alive or even qualify and grab some more

  • 1000 Free Priority Club points - Miles Quest says:

    […] HT to AwardWallet […]

  • I am also having some trouble with signing up. Is it possible that it is only for U.S. accounts? This is the message that I received:

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Opinion Check-In member.

  • Is this promo for USA only?

  • Patricia Flagg says:

Given that IHG points expire after only 12 months, this is a easy way to avoid expiration of points.

  • I have been doing these surveys for a couple of months now. I find that most of the time I get disqualified but luckily its usually within a few screens (so like less than a minute in I would get DQ’d). I will gladly take my 5 points for that time. Also when I get DQ’d, it allows me immediately to try to find another survey and go through the same process.

Occasionally the one that does go through will net me a bit more but often I feel like they end up being much longer surveys

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • This isn’t necessarily the quickest or easiest activity in the world. I didn’t suffer any technical difficulties but getting to a survey that actually fit my profile and that I could complete took a long time. And then actually completing a full survey once I finally qualified for one took forever too. The title of the post is misleading; it is indeed easy, but not easy on your precious time. Perhaps the title could be edited to say, “Easy 1000 IHG points for 1 hour of survey responses,” or something that indicates that it’s time-consuming.

  • If you don’t qualify for a survey you can keep trying. Up to 25 points will be awarded (5x 5 tries)

  • payyoutuesday says:

It takes several minutes to set up an account, complete your profile, and complete your first survey (probably 20-30 minutes). When you are done, the 1,000 points appear instantly in your IHG account.

  • Went through the process of doing this, but once it got to putting in my physical address, I got a little wary and decided not to follow through. Anyone else worried about that? I didn’t read the T&C, but can imagine that they’d probably share that info with their partners.

  • Neat to know to keep miles alive. Would be nice if they didn’t expire after a year though.

  • The surveys never work for me 🙁

  • Matthew Weyer says:

Perfect timing, I just got an alert from AwardWallet that my points were expiring in 3 months! The first survey was estimated to be 25 minutes but thankfully didn’t qualify for that one. Still earned 5 points for it! The second was about 15 minutes and I already have my points!!

  • I’ve tried to fill out a number of these and it never lets me get into the actual survey (and so score the 1000 pt bonus). Seems to be a dud, at least for me?

  • Looks like a great program! I will definitely try it out.

  • I love using the Opinions Check in site, it’s slowly built up my IHG account so I could top off some rewards.

  • Okay for 1000 points initially, but not worth your time aftaerward. E-rewards provides far better value for completing surveys.

  • nick zynger says:

I used it for the 1000 points – then its like 20 minutes for a 60 point survey. It does keep the account from expiring and the surveys are pretty good.

  • I think it’s worth doing only once – to get the initial 1000 points because in my experience Opinion Check In and other similar sited tend to screen you out at later stages after they’ve already collected a lot of information about you. Not really worth the time IMHO.

  • Worth it for the points but how do you then cancel?

  • Thanks for information. I used to add 1000 points to my IHG account. Now, I am only 592 points short on making a reservation for 3 nights

  • I have done similar surveys and would agree that you get screened out after spending some time providing information

  • Valerie Fristachi says:

There’s a bit more to this than meets the eye. You have to complete a detailed profile and qualify to take a survey based on your demographics and interests. I’d say, jury is out whether this is worth it.

  • It took me about 20 attempts to get to a survey that i could complete. But I will say that my 1000 IHG points did post within minutes after i completed that survey.

  • Does anyone know how this program compares with e-Rewards? That also gives the equivalent of 5 miles for survey disqualification, but the survey completion awards seem kind of low—20 to 80 miles is typical. What are usual awards for a completed Opinion Check-In survey?

  • Christopher says:

Thanks! That was a super easy way to grab some points 🙂

  • Have been doing it for a couple of months now. The points are starting to add up. It is good to note, however, that you are limited to 5 times a day to earn 5 points when you are disqualified.

  • The IHG points are worth keeping active and this is an easy way to do it. Thanks. I also find the IHG Rewards Dining to be convenient for keeping the family accounts I manage active.

  • I appreciate these kinds of posts. It may be small points, put keeping accounts active is a never ending task.

  • I had trouble signing up too…The info I filled in should satisfy all requirements for this survey. But the system says that my application to join is denied…really frustrated!

  • I racked up thousands of IHG points from previous promotions over the years, so I am always looking for things to keep my points active (and to add to them). This looks great. Thank you. The fact that you get 5 points even if they don’t give you the whole long survey is just right for me to keep my points alive. I use e-Miles and e- Rewards surveys for the same purpose. on many loyalty accounts.
