Air France–KLM Flying Blue has dropped a pretty big clue that it’s getting ready to launch something new called “Extra.” For a few hours, the airline published a “Flying Blue Extra” page on its website, teasing a handful of useful benefits, but it was quickly taken down and now redirects to a broken link.
Here’s what we know so far about the program and what you can expect once it officially launches.
What We Know So Far About the Flying Blue Extra Program
Unfortunately, we don't know very much about the Flying Blue Extra program. Even when the page was live, it was basically just a homepage with a short line of marketing copy and a “Discover Flying Blue Extra” button. But from that brief preview, it looks like the program may include:
- Boosted Miles
- Boosted XP (Experience Points)
- Exclusive discounts
- Free lounge access

Now that the page is down, none of that is visible anymore.

Our Take
If you participate in the Flying Blue program, more ways to earn awards and status miles are always welcome, though it’s fair to wonder how useful the Air France–KLM Flying Blue Extra program will really be.
At the moment, aside from buying miles outright, you can already subscribe to Flying Blue and receive a monthly allotment of miles. It remains to be seen how this new offering will differentiate itself or what it will cost.
As for XP, the option to purchase it to reach the next elite tier could be helpful in a pinch. But it’s not particularly groundbreaking, since you can already earn XP through donations or by buying Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) credits. And these methods are not particularly pricey either.
The most intriguing part of this potential new program is lounge access. Flying Blue doesn’t currently offer anything similar, so if Extra allows travelers without lounge access via fare or status to buy their way in, that could be a welcome and valuable addition once it officially launches.
