A Walmart+ membership just got even more valuable for drivers. Walmart+ has several promotions for members, including discount gas at 14,000 select gas stations across 48 states in the U.S., free Paramount+, grocery delivery perks, and more. Here's a quick guide to finding participating gas stations and how to claim your discount and other Walmart+ benefits — all of which you can access as a complimentary perk if you have The Platinum Card® from American Express.
Here's a quick synopsis of what Walmart+ is, the gas discount available to members, and how you can get all of this for no cost.
What Is Walmart Plus?
Walmart+ is Walmart's membership program. The program regularly offers free grocery delivery, free shipping on Walmart.com orders with no minimum spending requirement, Scan and Go contactless checkout, and discounted gas at Walmart and Murphy stations.
Walmart+ Discounted Gas at Exxon & Mobil Stations
Walmart+ members get discounted gas at the following stations:
- Participating Exxon and Mobil gas stations: Discount of 10 cents per gallon
- Walmart and Murphy gas stations: Discount of 5 to 10 cents per gallon, depending on local laws
- Sam's Club fuel centers: Access to member pricing
Here's how to get your discounted pricing: In the Walmart app, select member prices on fuel from your Walmart+ membership page and follow the instructions. Some members have reported that you need to ensure you don't have a credit card saved to your Walmart account to take advantage of this promotion.
Leverage Your Amex Platinum To Get Discounted Gas at Exxon and Mobil Stations
Those with the The Platinum Card® from American Express can claim a free Walmart+ membership — valued at $12.95 monthly. A statement credit of $12.95 plus applicable taxes will be applied in any month a member charges the Walmart+ membership to their card. You can enroll for this benefit here.
This is quite the deal, considering Walmart+ could save you around $75 a year in gas, $9.99 a month on Paramount+, plus other benefits. This comes at no extra cost to you if you have the Amex Platinum.

Our Take
This is a solid addition for some Walmart+ members. It's certainly a benefit to have a total of 14,000 gas stations at which you can buy discounted gas. However, some members have mentioned regular difficulties using the Walmart+ app at gas stations (while others say it's easier).
If you purchase a lot of gas, make sure to look into other ways to save at the pump. For example, Costco members can use the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi to earn 4% cash back on eligible gas and EV charging purchases for the first $7,000 per year and then 1% thereafter on gas purchases — in addition to getting already-low member pricing.
