How Far Will 70,000 Hawaiian Miles Go?
70,000 miles can take you quite a long way. It is sufficient for round-trip travel in economy class to Hawaii from anywhere in the US. Alternatively, you have many other redemption options both with Hawaiian Airlines and with partner airlines. Personally, we like the idea of using Hawaiian miles to cover intra-island flights. At 7,500 miles each way, you can get a lot of travel.
Our Take
Hawaiian has a good network (if you're based in Hawaii of course), and 70,000 miles is a fantastic offer for folks based in the Hawaiian Islands or are planning a visit. If you need more Hawaiian miles, they are a transfer partner for American Express Membership Rewards, and every so often they do have a transfer bonus.

Thanks. JetBlue is a partner, which makes these points useful for me.
Great deal, I totally forgot about Hawaiian Airlines up until today.
Thanks for the post!
Very nice bonus. Have been considering for a while. HA is a great airline. But tough from East coast.
Being from the east coast not sure if this card is worth it. Would like to see the annual fee waived and spending $10,000 a year seems like a lot. Thanks for the insight.
I just saw an email for existing cardholders 2X bonus points on all purchases.
Care to post a link / reference to it?
My friend received this offer:

Ah 2x at certain merchant categories up to 2,500 bonus miles. Sure the bonus is nice — I was hoping it was 2x everywhere no limit 🙂
Sadly small airlines like these don’t seem all that appealing unless you already travel a lot to Hawaii for example vs using partners or just flexible currency
50k points for 89 bucks is a good deal in my book
While this card does not have rapid earning power, the sign up bonus is worth a hard pull, imho. Hope using the miles is easy for the days I’d want to book.
interesting- just wish that annual fee was waived for the first year
Been sitting on a stash of HA miles for way longer than I’d like. Prices for travel on their partners are excessively high compared to other programs.
This is still a great deal for the sign up bonus of 50k. I will be transferring my bonus to HH.
It’s interesting how some Barclay cards have a minimum spend while others require only a first purchase.
The idea of using these points for inter-island flights is a good one. I understand these can be quite expensive. I would like to explore more of the islands, so I will definitely consider this card.
And, for those interested in Hilton points, Hawaiian miles appear to still transfer to Hilton at 1.5 Hilton points to the Hawaiian mile.
That might be useful, too.
Ha, I was just going to say that… I got this card last year, for exactly that reason!
Looks like a OKAY card. Will have to do some more research to see if its the right card for me.
50k points is well worth the AF in my opinion. The amount set in spend is easy to achieve the bonus, good news!
What’s AF?
Annual fee.
Worth the Af but I wish they’d do this for the business card as well
As an east coast guy, it’s not at the top of my list. But if I was a frequent Hawaii traveler, and based on what Jo said about about retention offers, it sounds like a worthwhile investment for many.
Well worth the AF. In my experience w/this cc, retention offers can be had to spend X (varies) -amount in ninety days and receive 5K miles. Much faster than meeting the annual 10K spend for 5K miles. For people who may only want to go to HI infrequently, maybe this card will not appeal. But, for Hawaii junkies like my husband and I, this cc is practically a necessity as we’ve never had a negative experience flying HA.
Thanks for the extra insights!
Sounds pretty good and it’s different bank/issuer so that’s a plus.
