Hilton Amex Welcome Offer

In the Hilton Honors program, reward nights vary between 5,000 points per night up to 95,000 points (with a few exceptions) per night depending on demand. One night in a mid-tier Hilton property will set you back roughly 40,000 points. Or if you stay at Hilton properties aimed at budget-savvy travelers, that same 40,000 points can net you up to 10 nights accommodation if you take advantage of Hilton's fifth-night free benefit.

AwardWallet members have recently redeemed Hilton Honors points for an average value of 0.64 cents per point. That means this 100,000 point welcome bonus can score you tons of value!

Points Earning Potential and Category Bonuses

The Hilton Amex earns points fast making it easy to build a sizable balance of points in a short space of time.

Earn 7X Hilton Honors Bonus Points for each dollar of eligible purchases charged directly with a hotel or resort within the Hilton portfolio. Earn 5X Hilton Honors Bonus Points for each dollar of eligible purchases at U.S. restaurants, at U.S. supermarkets, and at U.S. gas stations. Hilton Amex Feature Benefits

Complimentary Hilton Honors Silver Status

The Hilton Amex comes with complimentary Silver status, opening up access to Hilton’s 5th Night Free benefit on rewards stays. You can also achieve Hilton Honors Gold status — which is our favorite mid-tier hotel elite status. Hilton Gold includes free breakfast, Wi-Fi, priority check-in/out, and possible room upgrades.

Hilton Amex cardmembers can get these perks by spending $20,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year. If that spending seems a bit steep, you may want to consider one of the other Hilton co-branded credit cards:

No Foreign Transaction Fees

An improvement over its predecessor, the Hilton Amex now features no foreign transaction fees (Rates & Fees). That's a big plus for those using the card overseas.

Application Restrictions

As with all of Amex’s rewards-earning credit cards, you can only receive a welcome bonus on a particular card product once per lifetime:

Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.”

Hilton and Amex revamped its credit card portfolio a few years ago. When it did, the Hilton Aspire and Hilton Business Card were considered new products. However, the Hilton Amex wasn't considered a new credit card product. So, if you held an old version of the Hilton Amex, you won’t be eligible to receive the welcome bonus on the revamped Hilton Amex.

However, for those folks that held the Citi® Hilton Honors™ Visa Signature® Card, you'll be eligible to receive a welcome bonus on the new card — provided you canceled your card before it was converted to the new product.

Final Thoughts

The Hilton Honors American Express Card is a top card for occasional travelers and those that can’t justify paying an annual fee for Hilton’s premium Amex offerings. The card offers a high-value welcome bonus, no foreign transaction fees, or annual fee (Rates & Fees).

You'll start off with complimentary Silver status and have the opportunity to shoot for Gold with an achievable spend. And you’ll find it simple to redeem points for free nights with Hilton's revenue-based rewards program.

I have HHonor credit card and am happy with it so far.

No annual fee, I repeat no annual fee

Great sock drawer card that makes an appearance whenever they offer dining or shopping bonuses I can use. Generally, it’s enough activity to keep orphan Hilton points from expiring.

Thanks for the review, this is a great way to get the most out of you AMEX card.

This seems to be a really good card for no annual fee. If using them well you can get a few free nights with those points. Whilst silver status isn’t worth a great deal it is still worth having. It is good that there is a route to upgrade to gold if you happen to spend enough.

AMEX perks are just getting better and better! Given COVID-19 travel restrictions, they’ve added multiple extra benefits to enjoy locally since they don’t expect you to use travel insurance abroad and airport lounge access. Hilton’s CleanStay program

I’ve had this card for years though it definitely didn’t have this sort of sign up bonus. It’s mostly a sock drawer card but recently it got put back in my wallet when they announced the (Limited time) 5 dollar per month credit on dining. That’s free food since it is a no-annual-fee card.

Hilton often gets hit on for the value of their points, but if we’re being honest, ever since Starwood went away, the value of Hilton is better than IHG now and at least somewhat comparable to Marriot. So the fact that you can earn so many points with their card isn’t a bad deal. (Of course the downside is everyone and their cousin is a Diamond member as a result).

    • Avatar

Yes, but there was just a potential warning sign that you may have to reassess your hotel comparative value equation soon, as Hilton just took a step – hopefully, just a baby one – toward yet another devaluation, unfortunately.

  • Avatar

Thanks for this update! It’s a very good offer taking in mind benefits without annual fees

  • Avatar

Are there still Citi cards??? I am very confused.

  • Avatar

Like that you only need to spend $1000 in first 3 months to earn the bonus.

I have the Hilton AMEX from restaurants and supermarkets and pharmacies. I also get Diamond status with enough spend Don’t want to switch, and I love the bonus miles I get with

amex hilton business card has the 125K offer right now. I applied before this new offer took place, it was the one for 100K. Has anyone been able to get AMEX to match the new promotion?

  • Avatar

I have the card already. I do like the perks and since it doesn’t have an AF I hold on to it. It’s an easy way to keep points active too. Thank you for the info. Since I do not use it often, I do not always remember all the perks.

  • Avatar

Not bad for a no AF card

  • Avatar

@marc Totally agree. 75k for the no fee version is a great offer though. Typically one can start with this card and then wait to receive bonus offers to upgrade. At least that’s how it used to work with the no-fee card & Surpass.

  • Avatar

Aspire is well worth the annual fee.

  • Avatar

Thanks! I thought folks with the citi card were not going to be able to cancel and apply for this for the back bus. Oh well. Win some lose some.

    Thanks for the review!

I just cannot say enough good things about this card.
