Save $50 on JetBlue Flights Through Citi Merchant Offers
Select Citi cardholders can enroll in a new Citi Merchant Offers deal to get $50 back on a JetBlue purchase of $250 or more. That's up to 20% back — in addition to your standard credit card earnings! To score this discount, you'll need to enroll in the offer and spend at least $250 in one JetBlue purchase.
JetBlue will often charge your credit card separately if you book multiple passengers. So, it's unclear if purchasing a $150 flight for two passengers will trigger this offer. To be safe, you'll want to use this offer to purchase a flight costing at least $250 per passenger.
If you have multiple Citi cards, you can enroll in this same Citi Merchant Offers on multiple cards. So, if you are booking travel for multiple passengers, consider purchasing flights using different cards to maximize your savings.

Save $30 on Hawaiian Airlines Flights Through Citi Merchant Offers
Another Citi Merchant Offers deal offers $30 back on a Hawaiian Airlines purchase of at least $150. Like the JetBlue deal, this offers a potential savings of 20% off a Hawaiian Airlines flight.
Again, Citi Merchant Offers can be added to — and used on — multiple Citi cards. So, you can potentially stack your savings by booking two one-way tickets separately instead of a roundtrip.

Save $150 on Delta Flights to Hawaii Through Amex Offers
Planning a trip to Hawaii? Make sure to check your Amex Offers for an offer to get $150 cashback when spending $500+. The catch? This offer is limited to routes departing from Los Angeles (LAX) or Seattle (SEA).
Other travelers have reported getting a similar offer to get $150 cashback after spending $750+ on flights from New York (JFK) or Boston (BOS) to Tel Aviv (TLV), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), or Dublin (DUB).

Save $25 on United Flights Twice a Year Using Select IHG Cards
A relatively new credit card benefit on the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card and IHG® Rewards Premier Business Credit Card is up to $50 in United TravelBank credit each year. This is doled out as two TravelBank deposits: One $25 credit deposited in January and another $25 credit in July of each year.
To get this credit, you'll first need to register by linking your IHG card to your United MileagePlus account. Then, you'll need to wait until the first credit posts before you can use it. So, even if you aren't currently booking a United flight, we recommend linking your card and United accounts now. That way you'll hopefully have a $25 credit available when you're ready to book a United flight.
[Expired] Save Up To $40 Off Southwest Flights Via Chase Offers
Targeted Chase cardholders can get 10% cashback on a Southwest Airlines purchase of at least $50 through Chase Offers. You can get up to $40 back through this offer — which would require spending $400 in a single purchase. Note that this is a one-time offer. If you're booking multiple Southwest flights, make sure to strategically enroll and book your flight purchases to maximize this offer.
The fine print notes that this offer isn't valid on Southwest Vacations or buy Southwest point purchases. Also, this offer isn't valid on inflight purchases or fees — but you wouldn't want to burn this one-time offer on such a small purchase anyways.
The same Chase Offers promotion may be available on multiple cards, so check all of your Chase cards and determine which card is best to use. Especially with Southwest's recent performance, you might want to prioritize a credit card that offers flight delay insurance.

How to Get Targeted for These Offers
All of these offers (except the ongoing IHG card offer) are targeted merchant offers offered through bank savings programs. Unfortunately, there's no surefire way to get targeted for these offers. However, as a general rule, using your credit card can help trigger further offers — especially for travel purchases.
For example, Bank of America BankAmeriDeals notes that it will “match available deals to the places you’ve shopped with your eligible accounts before or to a similar place you might like.”
Also, having more credit cards can increase your chances of getting an offer. Getting access to more merchant offers isn't a reason alone to get a new credit card, but it's certainly a perk of doing so if you're considering a new card.

Bottom Line
Using points and miles is still our favorite way how to save money on flights. However, it can sometimes make more sense to purchase a paid flight — especially when you can save on the purchase through a credit card savings offer. And it often makes sense to set up a flight price tracker to keep an eye on flight prices.
If you're booking a Delta, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines, or United Airlines flight, check to see if you're targeted for any of these offers. If so, make sure to enroll in the offer (it can't hurt to save a screenshot once you do) and use that enrolled credit card to purchase your flight.
