Malaysia Airlines Enrich announced a couple of new features to its loyalty program. Effective immediately, members can roll over a certain number of Elite Tier points from one year to the next. Also, members will now receive Mid-Tier enrich points boosters when they hit specific base points earning milestones.

Tier Point Rollover

You can now roll over or carry forward elite points (warning: PDF) beyond those required to reach your tier qualifications. Sadly, you won't be able to carry forward all your points, and the exact amount you are allowed to roll over depends on your tier status as follows:

TierStandard Tier Requalification Maximum Carry Forward
Silver3015
Gold6030
Platinum10050

The new functionality took effect on January 1, 2024. However, you can only carry forward 50% of the tier points required to requalify for your current status.

One thing to note is that not all points count towards a mid-tier booster. Points earned from the following activities are excluded:

  • Bonus points and those related to tiers.
  • Points earned from activities that are subsequently canceled.
  • Expired points that are extended.
  • Points received via a transfer or points pooling.
  • The booster only applies to points earned during the current calendar year.

Our Take

There is nothing to dislike about these two new features. In fact, it comes as a pleasant surprise; more often than not, airlines tend to announce a mixed bag of news. They will generally cram some negative into an announcement with positive news. Fortunately, that is not the case here, and both these new features are an excellent addition to the Malaysia Airlines Enrich program. Hopefully, the airline will keep improving its program.
