Since its inception in 2021, Bilt Rewards has made waves with an intuitive credit card product and loyalty program that let members earn transferable points on convenience fee-free rent and everyday purchases with no annual fee. In fact, you don't even need a credit card to use Bilt Rewards.

Even though the program is tailored towards renters, anyone can join the Bilt Rewards program. While Bilt recently closed applications on its original credit card, Bilt plans to launch a new batch of cards in February 2026. Having one of these cards in your wallet will surely add value, but you don't need it to earn Bilt Rewards points.

From earning to burning Bilt points, here's what you need to know about Bilt Rewards.

How the Bilt Rewards Program Works

The Bilt Rewards program is generally straightforward and easy to navigate. Bilt members can earn points by using their Bilt Mastercard to pay their rent to any landlord and make everyday purchases. You need to make at least five purchases on the card each billing cycle to earn at the highest rates.

Right now, the card is closed for new applications while Bilt Rewards gears up to relaunch multiple new credit cards next year. Information is scarce so far, but we've been told there will be three new cards — one with no annual fee and two with annual fees — that will include brand new benefits.

Even without the card, you can still earn points through Bilt's various partnerships. Then, you can redeem Bilt points towards purchases and travel or transfer them to Bilt's catalog of airline and hotel loyalty programs. Bilt points can also be redeemed for rent credits or a down payment on a house.

If you have the Bilt Mastercard,  you can pay rent with no convenience fees regardless of your landlord. The card will cut a check or let you pay through Venmo or other rent portals, all for no extra cost. If you live in a Bilt Alliance apartment building, you can earn points on rent even if you don't have the card.

Bilt Rewards Rent Day

While the first day of every month is not typically the most exciting, the Bilt Rewards program often makes rent day more bearable.

On the first day of the month, you can take advantage of a slew of benefits, including (but not limited to) points transfer bonuses and sweepstakes for free rent.

If you have the Bilt Mastercard, you'll also earn double points on everything. This means 6 points per dollar on dining, 4 points per dollar on select travel purchases, and 2 points per dollar on everything else. Note that cardholders are now limited to 1,000 bonus Points earned through the “double points” promotion on the first of each month.

This isn't a game-changing number of points, but it's worth charging a meal or other everyday expenses to your card. For example, I make it a point to charge my utility bills and car insurance to my card every Rent Day.

Bilt Rewards elite status

To make loyalty more rewarding, Bilt publishes a few elite status tiers that offer unique benefits at every level. You can also choose a Bilt Milestone Reward for every 25,000 points you earn, but these are being replaced by Bilt Cash in 2026.

In January 2024, Bilt made elite status harder to earn by increasing the number of points required to reach it, while crediting more ways to earn Bilt points. At the time of writing, Bilt's elite status tiers look like this:

Bilt StatusEarn this many points annually to qualify for status:Or spend this much on non-rent purchases on The Bilt Mastercard® or another credit card linked to your Bilt wallet:
BlueApplies to anyone enrolled in Bilt Rewards with under 50,000 Bilt Points earned$0
Silver50,000$10,000
Gold125,000$25,000
Platinum200,000$50,000

Some of the headline benefits at each tier include:

  • Silver:
    • Silver-level Rent Day transfer bonuses.
    • Earn 10% bonus points on new leases and renewals.
    • Get a 10% discount on BLADE flights.
    • Earn interest on points based on the FDIC national savings rate.
  • Gold: Everything in the prior tier, plus:
    • Gold-level Rent Day transfer bonuses.
    • Earn 25% bonus points on new leases and renewals.
    • Homeownership concierge.
    • Complimentary access to BLADE lounges.
    • Bilt travel concierge.
    • Access to Home Away from Home hotel benefits.
    • Virgin Voyages Blue Extras elite status match.
  • Platinum: Everything in the prior tier, plus:
    • Platinum-level Rent Day transfer bonuses.
    • Earn 50% bonus points on new leases and renewals.
    • One complimentary BLADE flight per year between Manhattan and JFK or Newark airports.
    • Air France-KLM Flying Blue Gold status match.
    • Virgin Voyages Deep Blue Extras elite status match.

You can earn Bilt status in one of two ways: earning a specific number of points annually or spending a finite amount on non-rent purchases with the Bilt Mastercard and/or another card linked to your Bilt wallet.

The main reason it's worth chasing status is for the Rent Day extra benefits for elites, which are generally confined to lucrative transfer bonuses. However, the Platinum level also includes an intriguing Flying Blue status match and a free BLADE helicopter transfer in New York City, which costs at least $195.

If met organically, Bilt status can be a nice pickup, but it's otherwise not worth going out of your way for. Those with high rent or people who use the Bilt Mastercard as their daily driver may be able to earn these elite status tiers without issue.

Earning Bilt Rewards Points

Outside of paying rent, there are numerous ways to earn Bilt Rewards points:

Let's take a detailed look at the different ways you can earn Bilt points.

Earn Bilt points on rent

One of the easiest ways to earn Bilt Rewards points is by paying your rent through Bilt Rewards. Even without the Bilt Mastercard, you can still earn by paying rent via ACH transfer or a third-party credit card. However, you may pay a fee to do so if you don't live in a Bilt Alliance apartment building.

  • ACH transfer: Earn 250 points per rent payment, $1.95 fee.
  • Debit card: Earn 250 points per rent payment, $9.95 fee.
  • Pay with other credit cards: Earn 1 Bilt point per $2 spent on rent, subject to a 3% processing fee. Note that Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards cards earn 3 points per dollar on rent.

If you have a Bilt Mastercard, you can pay your rent using your card through Bilt's website. Cardmembers can even have Bilt cut their landlord a check and mail it on their behalf. You will earn 1x points on rent payments, up to 100,000 points per year.

Note that you must make five transactions on your card each billing cycle to earn points on rent. If you don't, you'll earn just 250 points on your rent payment. There's no minimum purchase amount, so loading your Dunkin' Donuts account a few times or buying a couple of packs of gum can meet this requirement.

One of the Bilt Mastercard‘s main perks is that you won't incur fees when you use it to pay rent. Since convenience fees can be as high as 3% using third-party payment processors like Plastiq or paying via your landlord's credit card processor, this perk can be a significant money saver for most renters.

As an incentive to rent through a property that belongs to the Bilt Alliance network, you'll earn up to 50% bonus points for signing a new lease or renewing an old one. The specific number of points you'll earn depends on your Bilt status:

  • Silver: 10% bonus
  • Gold: 25% bonus
  • Platinum: 50% bonus

Having the Bilt Mastercard will help you get the most out of the Bilt Rewards program. If you make at least five transactions per statement period on your Bilt Mastercard, you'll earn Bilt Rewards points at the following rates:

  • 1X points on rent payments made through the Bilt App — up to 100,000 points per calendar year.
  • 2X points on travel.
  • 3X points on dining.
  • 1X on all other purchases with no cap on earnings.

For a no-annual-fee credit card, the card offers solid earning rates. Separately, the ongoing benefit of paying rent without convenience fees can be worth the sacrifice of a welcome bonus for most renters.

Moreover, points earnings (except for the 1X on rent) are doubled on the first of the month for Bilt's Rent Day promotions (up to 1,000 bonus points). Earning 6X on dining and 4X on travel once per month is a valuable earning structure.

Again, this card is closed to new applicants as Bilt prepares to launch refreshed cards in February 2026. Bilt Card 2.0 will come in the form of three unique credit cards, each with different annual fees and benefits. One of the new Bilt cards will continue not to charge an annual fee, while the other two will likely have annual fees of $95 and $495.

Earn Bilt points through Bilt's travel portal

Making travel reservations through Bilt's Expedia-powered travel portal offers 2X Bilt points per $1 charged to your Bilt Mastercard. Using a separate credit card to purchase travel through the portal earns 1X points per $1 spent, in addition to the points you earn for travel purchases on your other credit card.

Earn Bilt points through Bilt Dining

The Bilt Dining program offers 5 Bilt points per $1 spent at participating restaurants. There's no need to use the Bilt Mastercard (however, you'll earn 8X with it) at these restaurants — swipe a card that you've linked to your Bilt wallet, and you'll earn the points automatically.

Like the rewards you'll earn in Bilt's travel portal, the points you earn through Bilt Dining are earned in addition to the points you'll already earn on the credit card you swipe. As a result, make sure to link the cards you use most often at restaurants to Bilt Rewards.

One quick word of caution: Bilt will only award you bonus points if your card's not linked to another dining rewards program like AAdvantage Dining or Southwest Rapid Rewards Dining. You can unlink your card from other dining rewards programs in the neighborhood section of the Bilt app.

Earning Bilt points on Lyft, Parking, Walgreens, Delivery, and Fitness Classes

Bilt has a handful of other partnerships at merchants you might already shop with. These partnerships (plus Bilt Dining) make up Bilt's Neighborhood Partners, which reward you for spending around town.

One of the most exciting partnerships is with Lyft. By linking your Lyft account to the Bilt app, you will earn 2X Bilt points on your next Lyft ride. And when you pay for your ride with the Bilt Mastercard, you'll earn an additional 3X Bilt points.

Bilt also partners with Metropolis, which operates parking lots around the country. Link your Bilt Rewards account to your Metropolis account to earn 1x points. Right now, you can only earn points on Metropolis' Vision technology lots, which charges your card automatically after reading your license plate.

Walgreens and Bilt partner to offer Bilt Rewards points on everyday purchases. You'll earn 2x points on Walgreens-branded products and 1x points on all other eligible Walgreens purchases. Plus, you'll earn 100 points every time you fill a prescription. Just be sure to pay with a card linked to your Bilt account.

You can earn points when you use Bilt Home Delivery to order essentials. This service — powered by GoPuff — offers everything from toilet paper to beer and groceries. You can pay with any credit card linked to your Bilt account and earn 1x Bilt points.

Finally, you'll earn bonus Bilt points on SoulCycle, Y7, Pure Barre, Rumble Boxing, BFT, CycleBar, YogaSix, CorePower Yoga, and Barry's fitness classes. All you have to do is make your reservations through the Bilt app. The number of points you'll earn varies based on the class you book.

Earn points with the Rakuten shopping portal

Rakuten is a cash-back shopping portal where you can earn points on your everyday purchases. Using it is simple: Head to Rakuten's website, sign up for an account (and enjoy a welcome bonus), and click through the merchant you're shopping with before you make a purchase.

While it's a cash-back portal at its core, you can opt to earn American Express Membership Rewards or Bilt Rewards points instead of cash back. $0.01 in cash-back earned through the portal is equivalent to 1 Bilt point. You can link your Bilt and Rakuten accounts on Bilt's website.

Redeeming Bilt Rewards Points

Coupled with a variety of ways to earn Bilt points is a variety of ways to redeem. Let's look at what you can do with a balance of Bilt Rewards points.

Transfer points to partner loyalty programs

One of the best ways to extract maximum value from your Bilt Rewards points is to transfer them to one of 23 airline and hotel partners. Transfers are 1:1 and start at 2,000 points.

Based on recent redemptions, AwardWallet users typically redeem Bilt Rewards points for 2.03¢ apiece, making the currency objectively one of the most valuable. Comparatively, AwardWallet users typically redeem other leading transferable points for the following:

  • Capital One miles: 2.04¢
  • Citi ThankYou® Points: 2.28¢
  • American Express Membership Rewards: 1.99¢
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards: 1.99¢

Some of the most high-value redemptions with Bilt points include international business-class redemptions with Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points and world-class stays at World of Hyatt properties around the globe.

Redeem points for purchases, fitness classes, and more

If transferring points isn't your thing, you can redeem your stash of Bilt Rewards points for statement credits, Amazon purchases, travel, and more.

Here's a snapshot of the value you'll get from your points when you redeem Bilt points this way:

  • Statement credits: 0.55 cents per point
  • Amazon purchases (limited to Bilt Mastercard holders): 0.7 cents per point
  • Fitness classes (SoulCycle, Solidcore, Y7 Studio, etc): Roughly 1 cent per point
  • Bilt Collection (art, home decor, etc): Roughly 1 cent per point
  • Bilt Travel Portal: 1.25 cents per point

Value-wise, it's rather clear you'll get the most out of your Bilt points by transferring to a partner. While there's nothing wrong with redeeming points for non-travel purchases, it won't give you the most value for your points.

Redeem points for rent payments

Another way to redeem your Bilt points is by putting them towards your monthly rent. While you'll offset the financial burden of rent, this is generally a poor-value use of points. Limited to those who rent at a Bilt Alliance property or pay rent via check, you'll get a paltry 0.55 cents per Bilt point applied towards rent.

Redeem points for a down payment on a house

One of the rarer uses of Bilt points is the option to use points for a down payment on a house. If you use your Bilt Rewards points this way, your points will convert to dollars at a rate of 1.5 cents per point. For example, a balance of 250,000 points is worth $3,750 toward a down payment.

To redeem points for a down payment, you'll need to fill out a form notifying Bilt of your decision.

Final Thoughts

For renters and non-renters, the Bilt Rewards program is worth a look. Earning points on fee-free rent payments makes Bilt stand out, and an intuitive credit card product is the icing on the cake. Various ways to redeem Bilt points at value are also a huge plus, as the program offers access to otherwise hard-to-reach programs like Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards and World of Hyatt.

There's no perfect program, but Bilt offers many positives that make it compelling to become a member. Just note that you'll have to wait until the beginning of 2026 to apply for a Bilt card to make the most of the program.
