Preferred Hotels & Resorts offers a collection of independent luxury properties. And thanks to a partnership with Choice Hotels, you can book select stays using Choice Privileges points.
The integration between the two programs gives Choice members access to more upscale hotel options around the world. But booking these awards isn’t as simple as using the standard Choice website. In fact, the process is a bit unintuitive unless you know exactly where to look.
Here’s what you need to know about how the Preferred Hotels partnership works, how to find eligible properties, and how to book them using your Choice Privileges points.

How To Search Preferred Hotels Using Choice Points
Unfortunately, booking Preferred Hotels isn't as easy as heading to the Choice Privileges site and searching for a stay as you normally would. Instead, you'll need to:
- Log into your Choice Privileges account
- Browse to this specific partner page
- Click the “sign in to start booking” link
That will open a landing page where you can start searching for Preferred Hotels properties using your Choice Privileges points.

Participating Preferred Hotels Properties
At the time of writing, you can book 318 Preferred Hotels using Choice Privileges points. That's just under half of the program’s properties. Historically, Preferred Hotels listed all participating properties on one page, but unfortunately, it has since removed this page.
Instead, you can scroll down the booking page to view all participating Preferred Hotels properties. There, you can filter by worldwide region, country, U.S. state, or even city:

How Many Choice Points Do Preferred Hotels Cost?
Preferred Hotel nights are dynamically priced and currently cost up to 87,000 points per night.
When Choice first launched this partnership with Preferred Hotels, the most a hotel night would cost was just 55,000 points. That was an excellent deal for many hotels!
But since then, the maximum price has been on quite the rollercoaster. Choice first hiked the cap to 87,000 points and then further increased to a maximum price of 118,000 points — more than double the original limit. Most recently, Choice Privileges backtracked, bringing the maximum award price back down to 87,000 points per night.

How to Book Preferred Hotels Using Choice Points
Booking a Preferred Hotel award using Choice Privileges points is relatively simple, although the page functionality is very counterintuitive. First, head over to the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Choice Privileges partner booking page.
Interestingly, before searching for your award by date, you must filter the properties by region, country, city, or state/province. In this instance, we filter by city, looking for a stay in New York City.

Now the page will refresh and only display properties based on your filter. Each property shows its maximum price. At this point, you click “View Rate” to find, and you will then be shown the properties' award calendar. We selected the Sherry Netherland in New York, which prices at 82,000 points per night.

We selected a one-night stay in May 2025. Once you have selected your dates, click continue to be taken to finalize your booking. If you have enough points in your account, you can proceed and complete your booking. Otherwise, you will see a message that you do not have enough points.

Boosting Your Choice Privileges Points
Preferred Hotel & Resorts Properties tend to be on the expensive side, so you may need to boost your Choice Privileges points balance to secure your next redemption. Fortunately, Choice Privileges is a transfer partner with several major flexible points currencies.
The outstanding option is if you have Citi or Wells Fargo points to transfer, as these points can be transferred to Choice at a ratio of 1:2. That can lead to tremendous value — especially if you can leverage them for awards at some aspirational properties. It's also worth noting that Wells Fargo offers two Choice Privileges co-branded credit cards:

Our Take
The ability to book hundreds of Preferred Hotels & Resorts properties using Choice Privileges points (and doing so online) is an excellent move forward. Historically, one of the main drawbacks of the Choice Hotels brands was its lack of high-end luxury properties. This development solves that to a large extent and gives members more choices, which is always good news.
The addition strengthens the Choice Privileges program, which seems to be growing in strength, especially as it acquired the Radisson Americas properties in 2023.
