How To Status Match To SAS EuroBonus
Taking part in the status match is relatively straightforward. All you need to do is head to the status match request page. You will then be guided through entering the details of your existing status.

Interestingly, you need not upload any supporting documentation with the request. It is unclear whether SAS will reach out to you later to supply the documentation. By all accounts, several data points online suggest that SAS takes your word for it.
But no matter what, once your match is successful, you'll enjoy your new status through March 31, 2025. Or, if you meet the re-qualification requirements, you can extend your status for an additional year.
Re-qualification requirements
You must meet the following flight requirements to retain your status through the next qualification period — March 31, 2026.
- To retain SAS EuroBonus Silver, you must take a minimum of 2 SAS flights through March 31, 2025.
- To retain SAS EuroBonus Gold, you must take a minimum of 2 SAS flights through March 31, 2025.
SAS Will Leave Star Alliance for SkyTeam This Fall
One thing to remember is that SAS has decided to pull the eject lever on its relationship with Star Alliance. The airline will be switching to SkyTeam on September 1, 2024. As a result, if you have top-tier elite status, that will then translate to SkyTeam Elite Plus. So, if you are heavily invested in Star Alliance, then this move may make you think twice before signing up for this status match.

Our Take
This is a very intriguing offer and one worth considering. If you are smart, you can leverage your status from one program to end up with status in three. For instance, if you hold top-tied British Airways status, you can match to SAS EuroBonus. You can then take advantage of Lufthansa’s attempt to harvest Star Alliance loyalists from SAS EuroBonus and status match to Lufthansa Senator. If you can pull this off, you will be a top-tier elite in all three major airline alliances.
That said, while this status matches promotion represents an excellent opportunity, matching for the sake of matching makes no sense and wastes an opportunity. So, only match if you will realistically take advantage of the newly acquired status. Just remember the last day to do so is August 30, 2024.
And, of course, this all hinges on you living in a country eligible for matching in the first place.
