Delta is on a hot streak this week; they needed it with their recent IT outage. First, they announced that they will be introducing fully enclosed business class suites next year, and Delta just has announced a discount on SkyMiles redemptions to Europe.
How Much of a Discount Can You Expect?
Through August 25, 2016, you can book a roundtrip award to Europe for only 49,000 SkyMiles in economy class and only 107,000 SkyMiles in business class. While Delta does not publish an award chart, the lowest levels you can typically book such awards are 60,000 miles and 125,000 miles, respectively. You can save 11,000 miles on roundtrip economy class awards and 18,000 miles on roundtrip business class awards with this promotion.
What Dates Are Eligible for Travel?
Eligible dates for this award sale are September 23, 2016, through April 6, 2017 (subject to availability). All flights must be operated by Delta Air Lines to be eligible for this sale. Itineraries including connections within Europe or Transatlantic flights operated by Delta partners such as KLM, Air France, and Virgin Atlantic are not eligible.
What Other Restrictions Are There?
The sale has a minimum stay requirement of seven days and a maximum stay limit of three months. Additionally, you must purchase your travel at least 28 days in advance. This sale is only valid for U.S.-Europe round-trip flights originating from the lower 48 states (Europe<>U.S. round-trip flights originating in Europe are not eligible.)

Keep in mind that Delta is a transfer partner of both American Express Membership Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest. If you are short of the miles you need to take advantage of this award sale you can supplement your SkyMiles balance by transferring points from either of these rewards programs to Delta. While Membership Rewards to Delta SkyMiles transfers are instant, SPG Starpoints can take up to three business days to transfer to Delta. Make sure you initiate any corresponding transfer by August 21, 2016, to be on the safe side.
