Dunkin’ is one of the world’s largest coffee and doughnut chains. Founded in 1950 in Massachusetts, the brand now operates over 14,000 locations across 39 countries.

Its loyalty program, Dunkin’ Rewards, lets members earn points on purchases and redeem them for free drinks, food, and exclusive offers. But Dunkin’ Rewards points don’t last forever. Here’s what you need to know about when they expire and how to keep your balance from going to waste.

Do Dunkin' Rewards Expire?

Your Dunkin' Rewards will expire 12 months after they are earned at the end of the month they are earned — regardless of account activity. Per the Dunkin' Rewards Terms and Conditions page:

“Points will expire, regardless of activity, 12 months from the last day of the month they were earned. For example, if you earn points on December 7, 2025, those points won't expire until December 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Points cannot be reinstated after they have been removed.”

Once expired, there is no way to reinstate your points, and the validity of your points cannot be extended.

If that sounds different from what you remember, note that Dunkin' changed its expiration policy as of October 6, 2025. Previously, Dunkin' points expired after six months of inactivity — but could be extended indefinitely with qualifying activity.

How to Earn Dunkin' Rewards

Earning Dunkin’ Rewards points is simple and designed for everyday coffee runs. Here’s how it works:

  • Earn 10 points per $1 spent on qualifying purchases (excluding sales tax and discounts).
  • Earn 12 points per $1 after 12 visits within a calendar month.
  • Points post within about 24 hours of your purchase.
  • Qualifying purchases include most menu items ordered in-store, online, or via the Dunkin’ app.

Once you’ve accumulated enough points, you can redeem them for free drinks, food, or exclusive offers right in the app.

Use AwardWallet to Track Your Dunkin' Rewards Expiration

With a firm 12-month expiration window, it’s easy to lose track of older points — especially if you only stop by occasionally. AwardWallet can help by tracking your Dunkin’ Rewards balance and expiration date and sending reminders before your points disappear.

To link your account, just add your Dunkin’ Rewards to AwardWallet, and you’ll automatically get notified if your points are nearing expiration.

Our Take

Dunkin’s 12-month expiration policy is shorter than most, and there’s no option to extend or reinstate expired points. That said, with thousands of Dunkin’ locations nationwide, using your rewards before they expire shouldn’t be a problem for regular customers.

If you’re earning through daily coffee stops, your points are easy to earn — and even easier to burn. Just make sure you track your balance so those free coffees don’t slip away unused.
