Get 4X Membership Rewards® points on the 2 eligible categories where your business spent the most each billing cycle from the list below:- U.S. purchases for advertising in select media (online, TV, radio)
- U.S. purchases made from electronic goods retailers and software & cloud system providers
- U.S. purchases at gas stations
- U.S. purchases at restaurants, including takeout and delivery
- Transit purchases including trains, taxicabs, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways
- Monthly wireless telephone service charges made directly from a wireless telephone service provider in the U.S.
That means that, assuming your electronics purchase is one of your top two spending categories in the month when you make your purchase, you'll earn 4x Membership Rewards points. You can then transfer those earnings to 20 airline and hotel partners. Plus, you'll receive purchase protection for 90 days, worth up to $1,000 against theft or damage to your computer, with a limit of $50,000 per calendar year.
Just be sure the store codes as an electronic goods retailer. According to American Express, this includes retailers like Dell Technologies and Newegg. Note that it doesn't include places like Target, Walmart, Amazon, or eBay. However, according to user reports, this also includes retailers like Lenovo and Samsung.
You can also earn up to $20 back when you use your card at select retailers, including office supply stores. Although a $20 monthly credit won't cover a brand new computer, every little bit helps.

- Unlimited 2% back on local transit and commuting (including rideshare)
- Unlimited 2% back at restaurants and at gas stations
- Unlimited 1% back on all other purchases
If you plan to do some online shopping for your computer or hardware, it's hard to beat the Prime Visa from Chase. You'll earn 5% back at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and on Chase Travel purchases with an eligible Prime membership, plus 2% back at gas stations, restaurants, and on local transit and commuting (including rideshare).
Almost any computer you might want is available on Amazon, and you don't even need to leave your house to make the transaction. Your computer will also be covered for up to 120 days against damage or theft, up to $500 per item.
If you are a business owner, you can consider the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card, issued by American Express. It also offers 5% cash back on Amazon purchases, but provides better purchase protection. You'll receive the same protection as the Amex Business Gold: purchases are covered for up to 90 days against theft or accidental damage, up to $1,000 per purchase with an annual maximum of $50,000.
If you want extra coverage, it might be beneficial to choose the business card, but both are excellent options for computer purchases.

- 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases on dining and gas each account anniversary year
- 1% cash back on all other card purchases with no limit to the amount you can earn
With the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you'll earn 5% cash back when purchasing computer equipment from an office supply store. If you don't want to make your purchase from an office supply store, you can buy gift cards for retailers — such as Amazon or Apple — at 5x from office supply stores and redeem the gift cards at your chosen retailer via a shopping portal to earn additional points or cash back on your purchase.
However, purchases that earn 5x are capped at $25,000 per year on the Ink Cash, and you forego valuable purchase protections if you go down the gift card route. These protections might be more valuable than rewards points or cash back when it comes to protecting expensive computer equipment.
You’ll also need to pair the Ink Cash with either the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (Rates & Fees), Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (Rates & Fees), Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (Rates & Fees), or Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees) if you want the ability to transfer points to Chase's travel partners or redeem for more than 1¢ per point in value, negating the “no annual fee” factor.

Best for Unlimited Earnings: U.S. Bank Business Triple Cash Rewards World Elite Mastercard®

- 5% cash back on prepaid hotels and car rentals booked directly in the Travel Rewards Center
- 3% cash back on eligible purchases at gas stations and EV charging stations
- 3% cash back at office supply stores
- 3% cash back at cell phone service providers
- 3% cash back at restaurants
- 1% cash back on all other eligible net purchases
As a cardholder of the U.S. Bank Business Triple Cash Rewards World Elite Mastercard®, you'll earn a slightly lower 3% cash back at office supply stores. However, this is unlimited, so if you are planning on buying high-end laptops for the entire office, you might earn more rewards with the Business Triple Cash Card than some other cards on this list.
For instance, if you spend $60,000 on computer equipment from an office supply store in one year, you'd earn $1,600 in cash back as a cardholder of the Ink Cash ($25,000 at 5%, $35,000 at 1%). With the Business Triple Cash Card, you'd earn $1,800. Clearly, this is better suited for a business with substantial technology needs. However, you can take advantage of an extended intro APR on purchases if you need some time to pay off your computer equipment.

The The Business Platinum Card® from American Express isn't the card you'll want to use if you want to earn as many points or as much cash back as possible. That said, it offers a multitude of statement credits, ranging from a $600 annual hotel credit to a $250 annual Adobe credit (perfect for putting software on your newly purchased computers).
You can also earn a statement credit of up to $150 on purchases directly with Dell Technologies, and an additional $1,000 credit after you spend $5,000 or more on Dell purchases each calendar year. If you don't plan to buy your computer equipment through Dell, you might be better off with a different card that earns more on your computer and hardware purchases.

Best for Apple Loyalists: Apple Card
If you prefer Apple products, you should consider the Apple Card — you'll earn 3% Daily Cash Back on all Apple purchases. This rivals the other cards on this list, but the standout feature is the ability to finance your Apple products without paying interest. At checkout, you can select Apple Card Monthly Installments, allowing you to make interest-free monthly payments on your purchases.
The interest-free window depends on the product. For MacBooks, iMacs, and Mac Studio, that window is typically 12 months. So, you can purchase the new 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Max Chip, upgraded nano-texture display, and upgraded processing power for just $379 per month. All you need to pay at checkout is the taxes, and you'll get 3% cash back on your entire purchase upfront. That sure beats paying $4,867 ine one sitting for a new laptop — especially when you need to buy more than one.

Comparing the Best Credit Cards for Computer Purchases
Determining the “best” credit card for computer purchases will depend on your unique circumstances and the store from which you intend to purchase. A corporate design office ordering 30+ iMacs from Apple will require a different rewards card than John Smith waltzing down to Costco to grab a budget laptop to stream the latest Netflix show.
If you’re in the corporate camp, and you're making a substantial investment in computer hardware for your office, using a high-volume corporate or business rewards card will mean less chance of stumbling into spending caps or running afoul of exclusions in credit card terms and conditions.

Maximize the Return on Your Purchase With Shopping Portals
You can add an extra layer of value to your computer purchase by using online shopping portals to earn extra points, miles, or cash back. Most major airline programs have online shopping portals, as do bank rewards programs like Capital One Shopping. These let you earn thousands of extra points simply by clicking through the shopping portal before making your purchase.
One of the easiest ways to maximize the return on your computer purchase is to check shopping portal comparison sites like CashbackMonitor.com, which scan online shopping portals for the best return at a given retailer. A quick search for Apple on CashbackMonitor.com shows returns of up to 2% cash back or 3x JetBlue TrueBlue points per dollar if you click through the portal to make your purchase.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re purchasing a single computer for use at home or a dozen for employees at the office, you can earn thousands of extra rewards points via rewards cards and shopping portals. And the icing on the cake is often receiving stronger purchase protections and extended warranties than when paying cash or using traditional financing.
Bear in mind that if you intend to carry the balance on your credit card rather than pay it off straight away, the interest will quickly wipe out any value from rewards. In this situation, you’re better off using a card with 0% introductory APR if you wish to pay off your spending over time. You can also consider using the high purchase price to meet the minimum spend requirement on a new rewards card.
