Breeze Airways has just launched a revamped Breezy Rewards loyalty program, complete with elite status tiers and new benefits. This launch comes on the heels of the airline's planned expansion into several international markets later this year — including Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. In other words, Breeze is an airline to keep your eye on this year.

Here's everything you need to know about the new Breezy Rewards loyalty program.

Breezy Rewards Introduces Four Elite Status Tiers, New Benefits

Breeze Airways took its first flight just four and a half years ago, making it one of the youngest U.S. airlines. The airline currently serves 81 cities across the U.S., with major plans to expand its presence both domestically and internationally. It primarily connects underserved markets — roughly 83% of its 300+ year-round and seasonal nonstop routes are only served by Breeze.

If you live near a Breeze hub and you have fallen in love with the airline, we have good news. You can now earn elite status when you fly with Breeze. There are four tiers — Breezy 1, Breezy 2, Breezy 3, and Breezy Club.

Here's how they stack up:

  • Breezy 1 members will enjoy benefits including 25% bonus BreezePoints, complimentary WiFi, priority boarding in Zone 1, and one bundle upgrade.
  • Breezy 2 members receive a 50% BreezePoints Boost, two bundle upgrades, priority guest support, and a choice of Breezy Select benefits.
  • Breezy 3 members receive another 5 bundle upgrades, 75% bonus points, BreezeBy Boarding, and another Breezy Select benefit.
  • Breezy Club status gives you a 100% points boost, 10 Bundle Upgrades, and even more rewarding Breezy Select benefits.

Breezy Select benefits can include additional bundle upgrades, bonus BreezePoints, or a multi-use buddy discount that essentially acts like a companion coupon. Breezy 2 members can choose a 25% buddy discount, while Breezy Club members can select a 100% buddy discount. Buddy discounts cannot be used with No Flex Fares.

Elite bundle upgrades

As a reminder, Breeze offers four “bundles,” or fare classes. The first — called “No Flex Fare” — is essentially a basic economy ticket. You won't be able to change your flight, and you can only bring a personal item on board. You also board in Zones 3 to 5.

“Nice” bundles allow you to bring a carry-on with you, change your flight, and receive a reusable credit if you cancel. “Nicer” bundles offer the option to select an extra legroom seat, board in Zone 1, and enjoy a checked bag, carry-on item, and in-flight WiFi. The top bundle — called “Nicest” — includes a first-class Breeze Ascent seat, two checked bags, BreezeBy boarding, and in-flight snacks and drinks.

Elite members receive bundle upgrades that can be applied anytime after booking, with immediate confirmation. Essentially, this means you can book a Nicer bundle but receive the benefits of the Nicest bundle.

Here's how much money you could save with a bundle upgrade. A one-way flight from Raleigh (RDU) to Punta Cana (PUJ) in May would cost $226 for a Nicer Bundle or $438 for the Nicest Bundle. I could book a Nicer ticket and use a bundle upgrade to receive Nicest benefits, which would save me $212.

How to Earn Qualifying BreezePoints

To reach elite status, you'll need to earn Qualifying BreezePoints. Here's how many you'll need for each status tier:

  • Breezy 1: 15,000 BreezePoints
  • Breezy 2: 30,000 BreezePoints
  • Breezy 3: 60,000 BreezePoints
  • Breezy Club: 120,000 BreezePoints

The number of BreezePoints you'll earn on a flight will depend on your fare class:

  • No Flex Fares: 1X per $1 spent.
  • Nice Bundles: 2X per $1 spent.
  • Nicer Bundles: 5X per $1 spent.
  • Nicest Bundles: 5X per $1 spent.
  • Extra Add-ons (seat assignments, bags, and priority boarding): 5X per $1 spent.

If you are a cardholder of the Breeze Easy™ Visa® Credit Card, you'll earn double BreezePoints on flights with Breeze — up to 10X per $1 spent on Nicer and Nicest Bundles and extra add-ons.

You'll also earn 2X BreezePoints per $1 spent on groceries and restaurants (including Breeze onboard purchases), and 1X BreezePoints on all other purchases.

To celebrate the launch of the new program, new cardholders can earn Breezy 1 status (including a Bundle Upgrade) after spending $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.

Using Breeze Points

Before the revamped program launched, 1 BreezePoint was equal to 1 cent. Now, each BreezePoint can be worth more, depending on the date and flight. Make sure to click “Book with BreezePoints” when searching for a flight. We're already seeing availability at higher rates.

Using the same example as above, I can book a nonstop flight from Raleigh (RDU) to Punta Cana (PUJ) for 3,600 BreezePoints by booking a No Flex Fare. I'll also pay $55 in taxes and fees. Booking in cash would cost $131, which gives me a valuation of 2.1 cents per point.

It's important to note that different bundles will have different valuations. A “Nicest” bundle on the same flight would cost 29,200 BreezePoints, plus the same $55 in taxes and fees. The revenue ticket would cost $438, which gives a lower valuation of 1.3 cents per point. Although it's still better than the previous fixed valuation of 1 cent per BreezePoint, it's less desirable than the No Flex Fare valuation.

We normally don't applaud a move to dynamic pricing, but this is proving to be a positive switch. After performing a few searches, it seems 2.1 cents per point is the best valuation currently available, but that could change over time.

Final Thoughts

Breeze Airways has officially launched a lucrative elite status program, offering benefits like upgrades, priority boarding, and bonus points on flights. Arguably, the most exciting benefit is reserved for Breezy Club members, who can choose a multi-use 100% buddy discount as a Breezy Select benefit. If you frequently fly with a friend or family member, you can save a lot of money by booking buy-one-get-one tickets. Even the bundle upgrades can provide significant value.

Now that you can redeem BreezePoints for more than 1 cent apiece, there's no reason to not join Breezy Rewards. Plan your flights accordingly if you want to be one of the first people to achieve Breeze elite status this year.
