If you have some Marriott Free Night Awards sitting in your account, we have good news for you. Marriott has just increased the limit on the number of points you can use to top off your Free Night Award, giving you greater flexibility than ever.
Here's what you need to know.
Combine Your Free Night Award With up to 25,000 Bonvoy Points
Starting today, March 12, 2026, you can now redeem up to 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points on top of a Free Night Award for eligible stays. This is up from the previous limit of 15,000 Bonvoy points.
In other words, if you have a 35,000-point Free Night Award, you can now turn that into a 50,000-point Free Night Award by using additional points in your account. It should be a welcome update if you have awards you need to redeem.

How to earn Marriott Free Night Awards
As a reminder, the following Marriott credit cards offer a complimentary Free Night Award each account anniversary year:

While this might not seem like a crucial change, it's always nice to have more options when you're ready to use your Free Night Award. For instance, if you have a free night award worth 35,000 points but you prefer to stay in upscale properties, the ability to add an additional 25,000 points allows you to utilize the award while also staying in a property better suited to your needs.

You can now supplement up to 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points on top of your Free Night Award. If you get your Free Night Award through the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card, that means you can book a hotel that costs up to 110,000 points per night, which increases the number of available properties.
